Instructions

Carefully read and follow all the ZENAR surname site instructions below to gain access to family trees and family history recorded todate on ZENAR site.

Download GenoPro

Follow the instructions to be able to view, download or edit genealogy tree (.gno file) from within your web browser.

Download GenoPro freeware (free software program). It will not be possible to view or edit your Family Tree or other people family history without GenoPro installed on your system. If you are using "Mac" these surname research instructions will not work. Contact me to make alternative arrangements.
Make sure your browser can host an ActiveX control. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 (or later), then you are set. If you are using Netscape Navigator , you may not be able to view your genealogy tree within the browser unless you install an ActiveX plug-in.

View Your Genealogy Tree

Click on .gno hyperlink. The browser will access the selected .gno file and and will ask you to chose between opening or saving it.
Select "Open this file from its current location" and click OK. It is recommended to bookmark the home address because in some cases the "Back" button on your browser may not work (See Warning below). If you find yourself not being able to return "Back" after viewing a family tree, close the browser and use the bookmark to reconnect to the site.

Download Your Genealogy Tree

Click on .gno hyperlink. The browser will access the selected .gno file and ask you to chose beween opening or saving it.
Select "Save this file on disk", when asked select directory and file name and click OK. It is recommended to bookmark the home address because in some cases the "Back" button on your browser may not work (See Warning below). If you find yourself not being able to return "Back" after viewing a family tree, close the browser and use the bookmark to reconnect to the site.

Update Your Family Tree Information

The set-up on this site allows viewing and editing a genealogy tree (.gno file) from your computer. For the time being I am not including instructions for direct web based updating - we will work on that later. For now use one of the following simpler options to update your Family Tree:

E-mail the text based description to me so I can add, change or modify the information on the site. Check Frequently Asked Questions for additional information.

Provide your family information using the data collection form (Word 97) and

	Attach completed form to an E-mail to me or
	FAX the form to 905-985-1225

Download (see instructions above) ".gno" file, edit it on your computer using GenoPro software and attach updated ".gno" file to E-mail to me so I can update the site.

Electronic pictures can be E-mailed, paper pictures can be scanned and E-mailed or you can simply mail the photographs for inclusion in your family tree. (to: Dexter Zenar, 460 Fralick's Beach Rd., Port Perry, ON L9L 1B6 Canada)

Warning

The "Back" button on your browser may not work after viewing a .gno file.

	If you are using Internet Explorer 3.x, you should not have this problem.
	If you are sing Internet Explorer 4.x, you must have version 4.72.3110.8 or later.
	If you are internet Explorer 5.x, you must have version 5.00.2314.1003 or later.

If you are experiencing this problem , please check the version of your browser. The version of your browser can be found in the About box of the Help menu. If you need to download the latest version of Internet Explorer, visit Microsoft's download web site.
