Wanda, the
Spoiler Gal at E! Online, chatted with Eliza Dushku on
April 12, 1999.
Here's just a few Q&A's from that night.
If you go to college, what will be your major?
I have no idea. I love to travel. My mother is a
government professor who teaches world and government
politics, so we've also traveled. I'd love any kind of
field that would allow me to travel to one country one
day and another the next.
How did you get picked for the role of Faith?
I had previous acting experience in films. I did six
movies when I was 10 to 15. A month after I graduated I
put two scenes on tape, and three days later they gave me
the part.

What's
your favorite Faith moment?
My favorite Faith moment was in
"Enemies," when she got jacked by
Angel. She was riding high, and then she got
dogged. She's so cocky. I love her 'cause I play
her, but she's so cocky. She got played. She got
beat in her own game.
How long does it take to tape one show?
Eight days. Sometimes more if we don't finish up,
but never weekends. We always have weekends off.
Has the Buffy fame affected you at all?
I'd like to say that fame hasn't really affected
me. I've always seen myself as no better or worse
than anybody else. A lot of people on the crew
even say it hasn't affected me. I have as much
respect for the camera guys as I do for the
actors. Also, my three brothers have kept me in
check.
Do you have something in common with Faith?
A lot, but not a lot. One of the differences is,
I have morals. I would never hurt somebody. In
common, we both have that adrenaline feeling and
that attitude thing. Wising off to cops,
teachers, just doing your own thing. It's a tough
attitude/East Coast thing. |
What would be the ideal role for you?
I'm looking at some lighter comedy, maybe. I'm a little
over being so dark all the time. I want to do something
that my grandparents and little sweet cousins can watch.
I was raised Mormon, so my grandmother didn't return my
call for a month after the "Enemies" episode
aired.
Do you have any pets?
I have a German shepherd/husky/beagle mix named Korbit,
but he lives in Utah. They won't allow dogs in my
apartment here. I'm trying to get a place here so I can
bring him out. I have five little fish that are easy to
take care of, and they don't bug me.
Do you ever regret your decision to become an
actress? Is there something you would have rather
pursued?
Sometimes I regret not being able to grow up normal. I
missed a lot of school, so I was tutored. It makes you
grow up really fast. You're forced to be an adult. You're
too young to be an adult, yet too old to be a kid. I
can't say I regret any decisions I've made, but it's been
a ride.
I would like to get into acting. What do you suggest?
Keep it up. If you really want to do it, try to a point.
It's really a business about luck. My brother's taken
four years of acting and hasn't worked, and I've never
had a class in my life. It's so unreliable, so don't let
it eat up your life. Don't pursue it to the point that
you have nothing else left.

Eliza,
the BIG question: Is your tattoo real?
I'd like to say that it is, but it's not. I want
to get a tribute tattoo on my hip for a family
member who passed away. But I want to wait until
I'm 21, because that's what I feel is best for
me.
How do you and Sarah Michelle Gellar mesh
offstage? You two are like oil and vinegar
onstage. Are you friends?
Yeah, we get along pretty well. We both have a
tough streak in us. You know, she's from New
York. We pal around and joke. We can hold our own
with each other. We're just two girls running
their mouths. We actually partied one night in
New York, at our agent's wedding. |
