From the BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER/ANGEL NEWSLETTER FOR JUNE 27, 2000:
There will be a new central character, Dawn, who will joining the Scoobies next season.
Zap2it.com tells us Dawn will be a 10 to15-year-old, and something like a sister to Buffy -- in more ways than one. Dawn will possess some very special powers (they say think "Sixth Sense") that will become very useful to the Scoobies.

According to Zap2it, The WB has also confirmed that Riley is in for sure next year and Oz is out for sure -- although we pretty much figured on that nugget of information. And best of all, according to E! TV's Wanda, Darla will be a permanent fixture on "Angel" next year. Yes, trouble for Angel means entertainment for us.

From the BTVS/ANGEL NEWSLETTER FOR MAY 16, 2000:
In a recent chat with Watcher's Web, Joss Whedon dishes about Willow's gal, her pet, and more upcoming nuggets for next season on BTVS and Angel. Joss confesses that we'll get the pay off on the reason Tara deliberately spoiled a spell, but not until next season. Expect Amy the rat to rejoin the human race -- eventually. According to Joss, "We do plan to give the poor girl her humanity back. We just thought it would be really funny if we waited for a long time." And you are going to see a very different BTVS next year. Joss claims "Season four was about freedom. The sudden freedom of college and new identity stuff. Season five will be getting back more to the concept of the family and the Scooby Gang. Their relationships will be more intense and won't be so scattered." Good to hear. But what about Angel? Joss says "I can't really tell you about Angel right now because we are still figuring it out."
Let's hope Faith, Gunn and Lindsey are all involved in some capacity.

From the BTVS/ANGEL NEWSLETTER FOR MAY 9, 2000:
Cordy will soon receive a rather upsetting phone call direct from Sunnydale. We hear she'll have a Xander flashback of sorts and that may be what it's all about. Our favorite character, J'heira (SUV driving, portal hopping, cleavage displaying hottie from beyond) will appear in the season finale of Angel. That is lucky for him, because he'll need her assistance in a raging battle against a nemesis from another dimension. Who knew? We thought she was all about her own mêlées.

In the same issue, the Buffy movie was discussed:

Joss Whedon admitted, in an interview with Empire Magazine, that he may be interested in doing a new BTVS movie, but not while the TV show is still airing. He feels that the X-Files suffered (both in movie form and TV form) when the flick came out. Then, in another interview with Eon Magazine, he elaborates. Joss claims "Maybe several years later (after the show is done) and the kids are really bored and we're not being as whore-y as the people from Star Trek -- maybe we can turn it into a franchise." We think he should run with that idea.

From the BTVS/ANGEL NEWSLETTER FOR MAY 2, 2000:
On second thought, maybe he's not all that bad. Lindsey McDonald, Wolfram & Hart's legal evil boy will soon team up with Angel in an attempt to crack secret files at the firm. Apparently it's all because the lives of some children are on the line. He's got a soft spot for kids does he?
So far, Kane is still on "guest star" status for Angel but if he survives the season, we see big things in his future.

April 27, 2000

From the BTVS/ANGEL NEWSLETTER FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 25, 2000:
Don't count Spike out yet, folks. He may be the impotent one, but he's still pretty evil. We hear he'll team up with Franken-Adam to separate The Slayer from her Scoobies, rendering her wide open for attack. Angel will be headed back to Sunnydale to kick some Initiative booty. Jealous much, big brooding fella? Ultimately, Angel will have to hightail it back to LA to help the hopeless, but may find himself one of them. Our guy will soon come face to face with the leader of the vampire hunters, Charles Gunn. Wonder if he hangs with that crabby cop Kate?

Click here to see pictures of Eliza Dushku, which were taken between takes, on the set of Angel (where she was filming "Five by Five" and "Sanctuary." To find out about these episodes, read the rumours from March 10 and April 16)!

April 21, 2000

From Raven's Realm: We have just heard that some cool things are blowin' in the wind for the future of Angel that will continue the success of this creative juggernaut. Seems our gal "She" will return next year. The actress has already been signed to appear as a recurring character (and why wouldn't she, after she got that tattoo on her face). Yes, that is huge, but there's more. We'll be introduced to a couple more recurring characters here in the near future, including a guy called Gunn -- an amateur vigilante vampire slayer. An eccentric billionaire named David Nabbit will also involve himself with Angel, although we don't know how. We've never really seen our dark hero with a "real" job, so perhaps Mr. Nabbit will be around to supply the greenbacks.

Eliza Dushku's new flick "Cheer Fever" will be released early this summer, but under a new name. Seems there's been a name change and we think that's a good thing to be sure. Not that we mind silly names (Simply Irresistible and magic crabs come to mind). The new name of the movie will be "Bring It On." And from what we hear is not unlike the hilarious and campy "Drop Dead Gorgeous." Check out the official website at

April 16, 2000

In the next new episode of Angel, "Five by Five," Wesley will try to make up for his failure as Faith's watcher.

April 7, 2000

From Raven's Realm: Looks like Spike fans are in for a real treat very soon! Our impotent vamp will team up with nasty ol' Adam and try to take over the world. This looks like season finale stuff to us! (and that would be the exciting not-quite-season-finale "Primevil," not the aftermath real-season-finale "Restless")

March 31, 2000

Thanks to Much Ado About Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Raven's Realm, Five by Five can fill you in on even more spoilers for the rest of the season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The last six episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer are called:
Superstar
Where The Wild Things Are
New Moon Rising
The Yoko Factor
Primeval
Restless

The remaining six episodes of Angel are called:
Eternity
Five by Five
Sanctuary
War Zone
Blind Date
To Shanshu in LA

In "Where the Wild Things Are," (continued from March 18th) airing April 25th, Xander nearly drowns in a bathtub. It is reported that when Anya and Spike bond, she asks him to sleep with her (to get back at Xander), but he says no. She gets upset, and tries to cast a lust spell, but her magic unleashes the spirits of two teenage orphans who were killed by their evil headmistress during their sexual peaks. Now that their spirits have been freed, everyone becomes a victim of intense sexual desire. But the spirit of the evil headmistress is also freed and she punishes people for their "naughty behavior". All hope seems lost, but help comes from an unlikely source who saves the day.

"New Moon Rising" will air on May 2nd, "The Yoko Factor" will air on May 9th, "Primeval" will air on May 16th, and "Resless" will air on May 23rd.

March 30, 2000

It was rumoured that Joss Whedon was working on the next Buffy movie last year, but his work was halted for the creation of Angel. Here is the current update on the Buffy movie...

From Coming Attrations: The chances of a Buffy movie hitting the local cineplex before 2001 is "slim to none." Our source tells us that none of the stars from the series have signed on for anything definate. Supposedly, there is a rough draft script that was started on last January. Currently the untitled script is being looked at by 20th Century Fox.

Our source reports that Buffy does not face off against something or someone she's seen before. That means any rumors that Spike, Drusilla, The Master or The First would play the film's chief nemesis are incorrect.

March 18, 2000

Thanks to Much Ado About Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Five by Five can fill you in on spoilers for the rest of the season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

In April, the new episodes will be "Superstar" (as explained on March 10 and 14), "Where the Wild Things Are" and "New Moon Rising"

"Where the Whild Things Are" deals with those two controversial topics: sex and magic. This will be a Xander/Anya centric episode, however all the major couples will also be feeling aroused. For unknown reasons, Buffy and Riley are under influences that keep them doing it, over and over and over again. Reportedly, there will be a lot of jungle fever in this episode: Everyone will be pretty naked. Two tidbits of info: Giles will have a small mid-life crisis during this episode, and this episode MAY feature the return of the estranged Oz (Seth Green in a recurring guest-star role) at the end of the episode. He was seen on the set during the filming of this episode.

"New Moon Rising" is definitely the episode involving Oz's return. While in werewolf form, Oz is captured by the Initiative and Riley must betray the Initiative to get him out. Riley's moment of truth comes when Oz is captured by the Intiative and is given an ultimatum: torture Oz or be court-martialed. Supposedly, this episode will answer the question about the full extent of Willow and Tara's relationship, which will result in a kiss!

In May will be the end of the season with "The Yoko Factor," Episode 21 and Episode 22 (unofficially being called "Aftermath).

"The Yoko Factor" deals with the fact that the Scooby Gang will be destroyed by outside forces. Throughout the season, there has been a strain in the relationship between Scoobies. This episode marks the turning point of that strain, and builds up to a very climatic moment in Episode 21. After Cordelia has a vision that Buffy is in trouble, Angel follows Buffy back to Sunnydale. Angel almost gets Riley killed and Buffy becomes even more angered at Angel for endangering her boyfriend.

In Episode 21 The Scooby Gang must engage in a very bloody battle with ADAM who has raised an army of his own comprised of demons and vampires. Reportedly, someone dies in this episode and the Scooby Gang attends the funeral. However, there is a twist to the death. It is somewhat of a fluke in the way we think one person will die, but it turns out to be someone completely different.

Episode 22, the season finale, will deal with the emotional trauma from the climactic events that occurred in episodes 20 and 21.

On Angel, the next few new episodes (as revealed previously) are "Eternity," "Five by Five," "Sanctuary," and, this just in, in May will be the episode "Warzone."

March 15, 2000

Lily (Buffy's friend from "Anne") just might be showing up on Angel soon.

Angel's next new episode, "Eternity," is about a woman (co-staring with Cordelia in a play) who finds out that Angel is a vampire, and wants him to make her a vampire. The voices in Drusilla's head say that through the woman's seduction, Angelus might make a brief comeback in "Eternity," which would explain how Giles hears rumours of Angel turning into Angelus. (see the rumours from March 10, 2000)

March 14, 2000

Anya (Emma Caulfield) has joined the regular cast of Buffy. (YAY!)
Word has it that in an upcoming episode, featuring her and Xander, she gets in a fight with her honey, and ends up bonding with fellow "ex-demon" Spike! (emotionally, not physically ;)

Remember that rumour about Jonathan, and his Jonathanverse? Well, it turns out that the opening credits for that week are gonna be revolving around Jonathan, instead of the regular cast. Kooky.

March 13, 2000

Five by Five's sources say Oz will be back on Buffy the Vampire Slayer! But, it'll only be for one episode.

March 10, 2000

The next new episode of Angel is called "Eternity," and according to www.internetmoviedatabase.com, Eliza Dushku will be guest starring in the following two episodes: "Five by Five" and "The Sancutary."

In "Five by Five" Faith flees to LA, where she is tracked and hired by Wolfram & Hart to kill Angel. In "The Sanctuary" Buffy returns to LA, after she hears word that Angel is harboring Faith and argues with him over how to rehabilitate the rogue Slayer.

General Buffy Rumours and Spoilers
Giles will hear rumors that Angel has reverted back to Angelus, but of course, he can't be positive. The ex-Watcher doesn't want to get Buffy involved, and since he fears the Initiative may get wind of the Angelus situation, he sends Xander on a super-secret reconnaissance mission to check it all out. In L.A. Cordelia wil geta bit of closure with Xander; it should be strangely sad and most likely hilarious.

Word on the street is that Danny Strong will return to reprise his role as bell tower boy, Jonathan (in the next new episode, "Superstar"). Seems he has been busy since we've last seen him in "Earshot." He's managed to create an alternative universe where he rules all, a Jonathanverse if you will. This doesn't go over so well in the Buffyverse but it does result in what we've heard is quite a humorous episode.

And from the "Say It Ain't So" Files, we will soon find out that the Initiative and the Council are connected.
