Subject: [WS] Battery replacement on the A/D

Hi all,

I have been recently acquainted with the battery low (internal) message on my WS A/D and subsequent loss of all ram banks... I guess it's just one more incentive to start programming again!

Replacing the battery on the WS A/D is quite simple. The only thing you need is a screwdriver and a lithium battery, type CR 2032. (This is a very common type of lithium battery which you should be able to find pretty easy.) Do NOT use any other type of battery, since its size and/or voltage may differ!

When you remove the cover from the A/D, you'll see a printed circuit board which is packed with integrated circuits. The battery is on the left side of the board, in a plastic battery holder. (you can't miss it, really!)

To remove the battery, you have to slide it to your right hand side, (there is a small spring in the battery holder which pushes the battery to the left) after which you can lift it up on the left side of the battery and take it out of the battery holder.

Inserting the new battery (right side up, of course) is kind of the inverse process: you just slide the battery in, after which the spring will push it to the left.

I hope this helps,

Erik.

the A/D uses the very common CR2032.. many Sharp/Casio organizers and calculators use these as well.. Walmart sells them for $1.47 (Duracell or energizer, I believe)
