I tried an experiment the other day. I'd been thinking of doing it for a while, but didn't really think it'd be worth it, but I had a go.

I picked 100 performances, 70 patches and 64 wavesequences at complete random from my library (switching dependancy management OFF), and sent them to the WS - that's RAM1 and RAM2 completely full. Patches refer to the wrong wave sequences, and performances refer to the wrong patches.

Just to see if it was possible to get any interesting sounds this way.

Well, I was really surprised! I spent a really cool hour or so going through the results, and it really inspired me! Out of everything, I ended up with about 40 or so performances that showed promise, many needing a bit of editing (usually muting things, changing keyzones etc), and a few only mild tweaking, but I have come up with some really nice sounds - and because of the effects, most don't sound like they're using 'old' patches before.

If anybody's stuck for programming inspiration, I recommend trying this... If you want to upload you (edited) results, remember to not use data that is copyright, from 3rd Party or Korg cards etc. But there's plenty to use from the SR banks, for instance. Give it a try! I ended up with far less rubbish than I expected...
