[PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Do not speak out of turn! Be quiet until I recognize you! is that understood?" A'laro glares at Balinor. Kerath throws a quick glance at Alyena and then his eyes return to the common people. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "what did I just say?" Ti'ana chuckles quietly. Mi'lari tries to stifle a laugh. Aitrus has been doing the same as Mi'lari this whoole time [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "The order of events for this trial follows this procedure" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "First, the charges will be read." [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "The written sentence for this crime is imprisonment for life." Tai'rahn formats the room for panel discussion. Type 'ask' followed by enter to ask a question to the panel. Alyena draws in a deep breath as she stands before the gathering, her glance cast downward. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Grandmasters, give me your votes. it must be unanimous." Mayana raises her hand Your question has been sent to the moderator. There are 9 questions in the queue. H'iath suddenly drops over. A small lizard comes and drags him away. H'iath has disconnected. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "the vote was not unanimous, we will move on to the next phase" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "the next phase is the testimony of the representing legislator. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Ar'kehn, may approach the panel" Ar'kehn steps up on the platform stage in front of Council Hall Tai'rahn locks entry to auditorium panel. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Now, no more interruptions" Alyena glances at Kah'shimah, clasping her hands together. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Kah'shimah, if you will speak" Kah'shimah stands [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "I am here today to represent Alyena, daughter of Kehrdahl and Faleah, as she faces the charges of the destruction of a kormahn, particularly, the kormahnokh Nerehfahl. I do not intend to tell you that she didnt do it, because that would be the exact opposite of what Alyena wishes me to say. She admitted to doing this crime, this many years later, to alleviate herself of the pain that it caused inside her. She held it quiet because that was what she was told to do, to protect herself. It is only recently that she has faced her secret, and in a hope to heal the hole that this secret has made she brings it to the light so that she may be judged." [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "Alyena is not the usual criminal. Not many people here know her past, and that is what my job here today is, to tell you of that, so that you may understand the circumstances under which Alyena committed this heinous crime." [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "Alyena was born to two wonderful people, Kehrdahl - a guildsman of the maintainers, and Faleah - a storyteller, like herself. It was Faleahs death that began the downward spiral toward the action we are here today to discuss. These actions were recorded by Leata, Faleahs sister, and Alyenas nurse after her death." [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "Faleah, Alyena, and Kehrdahl had gone to one of the common ages in Dni, in which they had ventured to a pier as a storm came in from the sea. Faleah, trying to hold Aly still for a frozen image that Kehrdahl was taking, slipped on the pier, knocked her head upon the pier, rendering her unconscious. She fell into the water, and Aly watched as her mother drowned. This, as most of you should realize, was a very traumatic experience." Alyena closes her eyes against the memory [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "After the accident, Alyena had recurrent nightmares of it. She identified a pier on Nerehfahl with the one that the accident occured on, and though they were different ages, she refused to return." Ri'Neref expression shifts for a moment. [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "This rejection emotionally wounded Alyenas father, Kehrdahl, for the age of Nerehfahl had been presented to his dead wife as a gift, and it saddened him to see Aly turn away from it. He loved Aly more than life itself, but could not express that love the way he had when Faleah was alive. So the gap between Aly and Kehrdahl grew bigger and in an effort to ignore it Alyena plunged herself into her guild work." E'agle has disconnected. A'laro stares blankly at Alyena. E'agle has connected. [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "Seven years after the incident on the common age, Kehrdahl was killed on Snahrehn, and age he was approving. Alyena and Leata had gone away from the house for several days. She was even starting to consider going into Nerehfahl once again. But when they returned, it was only to find a note that Kehrdahl had left. Two days later, he was dead." [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "Alyena fainted when she heard. Leata ran to fetch a healer, and when she returned, it was to find Alyena sitting on her bed with a page of the kormahn crumpled up in her hands. Leata told Alyena to hide the book and the pages for her own protection, because she would be punished severely if anyone found out." Ti'ana throws a worried glance at Alyena's pale face. [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "I have been given custody of these pages and their book. I have also been informed that, because the pages were simply ripped out, and not ripped into pieces in and of themselves, this book can be repaired. Is that not right, GrandMaster Arkehn?" [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "Alyena is guilty, friends, but only guilty by default. Let us put this in a scenario. Now, assume a small child had been given a yUtai for his naming day. Now let us assume that he had borrowed his fathers wooden boat to play with. Now, in an effort to recreate with the yUtai, the child puts it in the boat while it sits in the harbor. The boat flips over with the animal in it, and as a result the animal drowns. The child, knowing this, then takes all of his anger out on the boat, all of his grief, all o his pain, with no regard as to whose it is; not caring what will happen when they find out. This is the kind of thing that happened to Alyena." [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "Alyena is the child, Kehrdahl is the yUtai, and Nerehfahl is the book. Although her father was not killed in Nerehfahl, it was the only thing that even close to represented what killed her father in her moment of rage. So, with no regards for her, or anybody elses future being, she did as best as she could at destroying it before she realized what she did. Alyena was 20 years old when this occured." [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "I am here today to defend Alyena, and I am here to tell you that she did not do this crime out of spite for the Dni people, out of hate for the Dni people, or out of disrespect of the Dni people. Alyena did this crime out of grief for her father, and hate for ages. Alyena has next to never agreed to go into an age since the accident." A'laro almost starts to say something, but holds back and waits for a better time. [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "I call it an accident because thats what it is. She did not care. In the moment of your rage, you do not care. Neither do I, and that is why I am defending Alyena. Because I pity her, as you all should." [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "I cannot make your decision for you here today, but I can try to influence it. Please, vote not guilty. I stand beside, not a criminal, but a woman tired of keeping something inside, tired of the pain that it has caused her. I stand beside a woman who made a mistake. We all make mistakes my friends. Remember, we may be Dni..." [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "But none of us is perfect." Kah'shimah sits [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Thank you, GrandMaster Kah'shimah. Each Person may ask two questions regarding this speech. two and two only." Alyena allows her gaze to stray to the assembly Ti'ana nods assuringly at Alyena. Tai'rahn opens the entry to auditorium panel. Tamen steps up on the platform stage in front of Council Hall Tai'rahn locks entry to auditorium panel. A'laro starts staring at Alyena blankly again, then thoughtfully, then angrily, and then finally he starts to look confused. Ar'kehn lowers his gaze to the floor, face solemn. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "if no questions are asked in 10 seconds, this discussion will be closed." Your question has been sent to the moderator. There are 2 questions in the queue. The moderator says, Question from A'Gaeris: When will the lesser folks get to speak their minds? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "A'gaeris, that is the next phase" The moderator says, Question from Mayana: ask Alyena, can you actually remember tearing the page from the Korhman, or only the aftermath? Were you aware of what you were doing? Aitrus pages, "GOOD QUESTION!!" Alyena looks to Tai'rahn [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "you may speak, Alyena" Alyena swallows, nodding. "I remember tearing the pages from the book. Yes." Mayana looks down, clearly not happy with this answer. The moderator says, Question from Tamen: how old was Alyena's mother/father at the time of their deaths and how old was Alyena when her mother died [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Alyena?" Alyena glances at Tamen. "I was 13 when my mother died." [PANEL] Alyena says, "My mother was....." [PANEL] Alyena says, "I think she was 133 years old at the time...." [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "and your father?" [PANEL] Alyena says, "He was 160" Alyena whispers "He was not that old...." OOC: Tai'rahn says "something happened, Erithan, Ar'kehn, Sirrus, and Do'vahth, please reask your latest questions." [GrandMasters] Ti'ana: Argh! The moderator says, Question from Erithan: where is the woman who told Alyena to hide the pages? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Alyena?" Your question has been sent to the moderator. There are 2 questions in the queue. [PANEL] Alyena says, "Lea'ta is dead."" The moderator says, Question from Ar'kehn: If we are to explain the destruction of ages through accidents, will it not be long before an "accident" takes our home as well? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Kah'shimah?" [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "Not all ages are destroyed by accidents. This age was not even destroyed. It is still there, and with some work, can be reached once again." The moderator says, Question from Mayana: Alyena, I understand the reasons for your actions in the past as Nava Kah'shimah has presented them. And I understand that you have almost never visited an Age since then. So my question is, what is your current attitude to our Kormahn. Anger? Repulsion?..Respect? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Alyena?" Alyena raises her gaze now, her resolution evident. "I wish to heal that cleft... [PANEL] Alyena says, "I have, recently linked to another Age, and in so doing, realized my error...that is why I have come forward." The moderator says, Question from Do'Vahth: What was Nerehfal like? Had she been there before? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Alyena?" [PANEL] Alyena says, "Nereh'fahl?" [PANEL] Alyena says, "I had been there many times with my mother and father before my mother's death....I dearly loved it." The moderator says, Question from Sirrus: Alyena, if you remember tearing the pages from the book, can you explain what you were thinking at the time? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Alyena?" [PANEL] Alyena says, "Intense sorrow, and anger that my parents were dead..." [PANEL] Alyena says, "But worse...that Nereh'fahl had somehow split my father and me apart..." [PANEL] Alyena says, "I was going to go back..." Alyena's eyes fill with tears. "I was going to go back when he returned... Alyena whispers "And then he didn't..." [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Alyena, please finish." Kah'shimah looks toward Alyena, then hides his face. [PANEL] Alyena says, "I looked at the book....and then I held my hand over the linking panel" Do'Vahth, screaming, is sucked into the surface. Do'Vahth has disconnected. Mi'lari looks toward Alyena empathetic. The moderator says, Question from Aitrus: If they repaired the book, would you have any thoughts on it's destruction anymore? Do'Vahth wakes up. Do'Vahth has connected. [PANEL] Alyena says, "No..I would not want to destroy it... I want to return to it."" Alyena meet's Aitrus' gaze. "I would not do what I have done ever again." The moderator says, Question from Mahnshooth: If the age can be healed, as Kah'shimah said, do you wish it to be? [PANEL] Alyena says, "Yes."" [ The moderator says, Question from A'Gaeris: Is it not a crime, no matter the motivation? Shouldn't we, being the cautious and safe D'nians that we are, set an example for future generations and for the safety of our race? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Kah'shimah?" [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "Yes, A'gaeris, we should" [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "and as that, because I want D'ni to be safe from thos who are evil, we need to keep those who are not. You have heard Alyena today. She is sorry, and I know you can see it in her eyes. If we get rid of her, who knows who is to follow?" Do'Vahth tiptoes out. Do'Vahth steps away for a momment to write a message to someone. The moderator says, Question from Aitrus: One last question for you, do you have any anger for OTHER ages? A'laro stares blankly through Kah'shimah. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Alyena?" "No." Alyena shakes her head. "Not anymore. I have it only for myself." The moderator says, Question from Balinor: How was your father killed in the age?." [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Alyena?" [PANEL] Alyena says, "It was before the Lenovoo holiday" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "I believe he asked how, Alyena. Not when." [PANEL] Alyena says, "And the guild had 3 new ages to inspect before then." [PANEL] Alyena says, "I'm sorry" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "continue with the answer to the question" Alyena nods, regaining her composure. [PANEL] Alyena says, "There was an instability in the Age...that is what I was told." The moderator says, Question from Ar'kehn: If you, Alyena, had not linked to another Age recently, would you have ever admitted your crime? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Alyena?" Alyena looks at Ar'kehn. "Linking to that Age was important to my confession... [PANEL] Alyena says, "I pray Yahvo that I would have....but I do not know for certain..." Confusion and anger alternately keep growing and then diminish on A'laro's face as question after question is answered. The moderator says, Question from Erithan: Is not the suffering that Alyena has suffered these many years not punishment enough for the crime she has committed? Ar'kehn stares at Alyena stoicly, gaze unflinching. Alyena returns her gaze downwards. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Kah'shimah" Kerath just sits there, shocked and amazed at the same time. [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "yes, I believe it waqs" The moderator says, Question from Rhoveth: If Alyena is truly sorry, and the book can be repaired, there will be no lasting damage except for this event's memory. And seeing that she is a high-ranking member of the Story-tellers Guild, isn't it likely that future generations will remember the lesson she learned? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Kah'shimah?" [PANEL] Kah'shimah says, "Yes, it is very likely. I enjoy this no more than she does, and therefore think that the storytellers should weave a tale of this, to tell to our children, so that they are cautioned. Good point, Rhoveth." The moderator says, Question from Sirrus: Alyena, if your friend Lea'ta had never cautioned you about the book and sharing with others what you had done, what would you have done then? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Alyena?" [PANEL] Alyena says, "I would like to think I would have told someone. But I was very young then, and Lea'ta was almost like my mother. She was also in the StoryTeller's guild, and so I trusted her, of course." Tai'rahn opens the entry to auditorium panel. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Sne'vir, you may approach the Panel. Balinor has business elsewhere" Alyena glances at Sirrus briefly, then across the gathering again. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Are there any more questions?" Tai'rahn locks entry to auditorium panel. E'agle is a guildmaster. A'Gaeris looks concerned at the panel. A'neetah finds a seat in Council Hall. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "GrandMasters only may vote" Aitrus whispers something to Ti'ana [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Or their representatives" Aitrus leans up after whispering to her and watches [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "I have not recieved votes from Sne'vir or Lir'rah" Tai'rahn opens the entry to auditorium panel. Lir'rah steps up on the platform stage in front of Council Hall A'laro finds a seat in the panel. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Lir'rah and Sne'vir, please vote Guilty or Not guilty." Alyena brings her gaze up to the Council now. A'laro hesitantly casts his vote. Do'Vahth looks towards the council in anticipation of the results. Rhoveth quietly enters. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "The vote is still not unanimous. This will be the procedure for the remainder of the trial." Aitrus sighs in deep thought Mi'lari sighs. A'Gaeris looks at Aitrus, rolling his eyes. Aitrus shakes his head "what's the majority?" Ti'ana thinks that this was to be expected. Do'Vahth looks up at the Council, sighing. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Individual persons, both GrandMasters and not, will be allowed to speak either for or against the accused. They may speak only once though." Tai'rahn formats the room for panel discussion. Type 'ask' followed by enter to ask a question to the panel. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Ask me for permission to speak. Those speaking against, now ask me" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "listen." [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "only those who are speaking against ask me at this time." [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "listen. ONLY those speaking against ask me at this time" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "all people speaking against ask me now." [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "even if you already have." The moderator says, Question from A'laro: I would like to speak between the against and the not against. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "A'laro? You may speak" Tai'rahn formats the room for open discussion. You may now address the panel freely. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "A'laro?" Ar'kehn falls asleep. Ar'kehn has disconnected. A'Gaeris says, "I am outraged that Kah'shimah, the GrandMaster of the Legislature Guild, would even think of defending this case! It is a crime. It should be punished. If one murders out of anger, he will be put to death. .... She should be put in prison! Not only as a punishment but as an example for all of the future generations of D'ni to prevent ANYTHING like this from ever happening. My guild, for one, is shocked and embarrased to here of this. I know that others are too. Not only has she broken a sacred law, by desecrating a kormahn, she has withheld it for all these years!" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "A'gaeris!" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "you do not speak out of turn!" A'Gaeris says, "You said open discussion." [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "I formatted the room that way. that does not mean you forego the rules." Do'Vahth looks angrily at the reckless A EJECT HIM [PANEL] A'laro says, "As you may already know, I have been against Alyena from the start. But after much thought, and many answering of questions, I have suddenly become undecided...."" Aitrus would like that! Do'Vahth looks angrily at the reckless A'Gaeris, knowing something like this would happen. Mahnshooth looks at A'Gaeris without much of an expression on his face. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "and, Agaeris, to boot, the testimony is toward Alyena. Not toward Kah'shimah" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "now everyone be quiet while A'laro speaks." A'Gaeris sits back, smiling. Aitrus raises an eyebrow at A'gaeris. Ti'ana casts an infuriated look at A'Gaeris. Mi'lari glares coldly at A'Gaeris. Alyena keeps her gaze to her hands clasped before her. Do'Vahth sighs, and glares at A'Gaeris. caitsith frowns coldly at A'Gaeris Rhoveth puts his fingers to his temples and rubs his forehead slowly, trying to concentrate. E'agle stares with unmoving eyes at A'Gaeris. A'neetah rolls her eyes towards the celing. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "A'laro is speaking." [PANEL] A'laro says, "Alyena has been my friend for many years, and now I am suddenly trying to put her in prison for the rest of her life? This did not seem right to me. I still am very angry about this turn of events, but I feel that I have been bad in trying to make her go to prison. Because of this, I am going to not vote anymore." A servant arrives to cart Ar'kehn off to bed. A'laro looks at Alyena and sits down. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "A'laro, do you have a representative who can vote for you?" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "A'laro?" [PANEL] A'laro says, "frowns. "I will just abstain."" Alyena glances quickly at A'laro [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "as you wish" The moderator says, Question from Do'Vahth: I'm against. May I speak? [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Do'vahth, you may speak" A'Gaeris coughs. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Do'vahth?" Aitrus says, "I have something to say" Aitrus says, "on her behalf" Aitrus sits back and waits Do'Vahth stands up, speaking quickly. "I do not believe that Alyena should be put away for life. She has confessed to her crime, and it is obvious that she was very much affected by great trauma. However, she cannot simply go free for such a horrendous crime. Whether she has confessed or not, and regardless of the circumstances, the effects are the same. A book has been damaged, a crime has been commited. We cannot simply ignore this fact. Alyena deserves a small punishment, not for the rest of her life, but for a short time, to serve as a reminder that you cannot get away with this crime. A small punishment, for an otherwise innocent woman." Kerath eases down into his chair... Aitrus hmms, it sounds somewhat fair. He raises his hand Rhoveth nods. Aitrus is waiting his turn A'Gaeris looks at Do'Vahth with a bit of confusion. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "I will recognize you when your time comes" Mi'lari nods slightly. Ah'nibus quietly enters. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "are there any others speaking against?" Ah'nibus finds a seat in Council Hall. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "seeing none, we will move on with those who are speaking for." [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "those who are speaking for, please ask me to speak now" Your question has been sent to the moderator. There are 4 questions in the queue. Aitrus smiles and raises his hand The moderator says, Question from Aitrus: I would soon like to speak as well on her behalf [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Aitrus, you may speak" Aitrus grinz Aitrus stands up and turns to the audience, clearing his voice [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Does anyone have their speech prepared?" Ti'ana wonders if Aitrus will ever start to speak. Ti'ana ods E'agle raises his hand, "I wish to speak on Alyena's beghalf. E'agle nods. Mi'lari nods. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "do not speak out of turn!" A'Gaeris laughs. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "simply nod" Erithan nods [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "do not laugh, A'gaeris" E'agle nods. Ti'ana nods caitsith nods Aitrus SCREAMS! The moderator says, Question from Mayana: Mayana stands and adresses the Panel. We have heard a very sad, very tragic story today. Our sympathies go out to the young girl who, in anger and grief, damanged her familys Korhman. But I would ask if we have become so seduced by our books and paprs and writing that we forget that the Kormahntee, the Ages, The Art exist to serve Dni, and not the other way around. We are deciding the fate of Alyena, a citizen of Dni who has served all of us to the best of her abilities for many decades, who has served her Guild so well that she has attained the rank of Assistant GrandMaster. She has made a tragic mistake. But it is clear from all I have heard here today that it will not, not ever, happen again. The Law, technically, has been broken. But the Laws are written to protect Dni. No Law can be written that will cover every conceivable situation. I believe that, in the Spirit of the Law, we must find Alyena not guilty. I ask you not to surrender to dry ink and dusty pages, but to bow to the Spirit of the Law, acknowledge that Alyena is no threat to Dni and has been punished enough. I ask you to vote, with me, Not Guilty. Sweeps her gaze across the Panel. Chev shem. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "you will be ejected if you do so again" Aitrus says, "Friends, some of you...." He looks at A'Gaeris "unfairly judge this woman as a criminal. But place yourself in her position. I would imagine that many of you, if not all of you, would do the same thing in her place. She had a tramautic experience, and now she disabled the book. It can be repaired very easilly, is that not correct? " Aitrus says, "And besides, it was her world I believe, and she didn't destroy a world, just stopped the link to it. Burned a bridge. Or mabey she didnt burn a bridge but take three boards out so one couldb't cross it. For this you wish to imprison her. It is not that big of a deal. I think this soul had some problems at the time, and did it in the heat of the moment. Who here has done things in the heat of the moment and regretted it later? I have! We simply learn our lesson, as she has. that is all." Aitrus sits down Aitrus hushes up The moderator says, Question from Ti'ana: permission to speak Ti'ana raises from her seat, straightening to full height. After bowing to the assembly she clears her throat and begins to speak. [PANEL] Ti'ana says, "Members of this Council, Guildsmen ..... Very few here know that my relationship with Master Alyena goes far beyond that of a Grand Master and his Assistant Grand Master. Not only was I assigned being her tutor when she entered the Guild of Story-Tellers, I also know her all of her life as our families are very close. Therefore I've always regarded her as my sister..... None of you were present when Fa'Leah died in one of the Common Ages. I was. Alyena always had a very special relationship with her mother, so when this accident happened she was deeply traumatized and we all feared that it would destroy her, even that we might loose her. As the years went by it looked as she had come to terms with it though she became quite introverted. And just when she seemed to have accepted what had happened, her father died! And - again - in an Age! ....... This was the very moment when the simple thought of Ages became unbearable for Alyena, blaming them for having killed both of her parents whom she had loved so deeply! I honestly think that Alyena went mad for a very short time, not realizing what she did until it was too late. ....... All of you who know Alyena, know that she is one of the most caring and reliable members of this society. The crime she committed wasn't committed because of malice but of despair! .......Member of this Council, I beg you to take these facts into consideration when it comes to voting on the degree of punishment. I am completely aware that the desecration of a Kormahn is a very serious crime, almost the most serious one we know. But I also think that the soul of any D'ni is as sacred as the Books. And I know that Master Alyena has punished herself every day since then. Therefore let the punishment be a lenient one. I thank you all."" Ti'ana Ti'ana bows to the assembly again and sits down, only the light tremble of her hands revealing her inner tension. Alyena looks to Tiana's gaze Kerath falls asleep. Kerath has disconnected. A'laro gives A'Gaeris a look that would kill if it could. Rhoveth silently puts his head to the back of the chair in front of him, exasperated at the free-for-all going on around him. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "I will eject every last one of you if you don't sit down and stay quiet!" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Ti'ana, are you finished?" Ti'ana nods. "Yes. I have nothing to add." The moderator says, Question from Erithan: I wish to speak for [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Erithan, you may speak" Erithan stands up, leaning on her walking stick, she pauses before beginnning.. [PANEL] Erithan says, "Some of you know the tale of what happend to me many years ago and some of you don't. Let it suffice to say that I went exploring with friends where I should have not been. I was a member of the Surveyors Guild when I was young, and Lir'rah's Father, Te'lanis and I went exploring in forbidden caves. A terrible accident occured and Lir'rah's father died and my leg was severley damaged. Because we had disobeyed one of the Surveyors Guild's most firm rules of not exploring unsurveyed tunnles we were brought before the guild's council and put on trial for what we had done. The Masters of the guild were wise, and realized that no demotion, expulsion, restriction, imprisonment or otherwize could be as effective a punishment as the guilt we would bear each day knowing that we were the cause of the death of a friend....And they were right...every day I wake up with that knowledge and every day I go to sleep with it...sometimes it even enters my dreams...I shall live with it until my death. This is what Alyena has suffered these past years, a gnawing guilt that never leaves you, never lets you truly be happy...it is like a shadow that is always hanging over you. She has suffered enough. I would ask the Council to consider my words. Thank you." Erithan slowly sits down again. Mayana casts a sympathetic look at Erithan, knowing her words are true. The moderator says, Question from Mi'lari: I would like to speak for. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Mi'lari, you may speak" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Mi'lari?" A servant arrives to cart Kerath off to bed. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "Are there any others wishing to speak for?" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "if so, ask me now" Mi'lari stands, clearing his throat looking out over the crowd. "I think we all know in some way what Alyena was going through at the time. I, myself, know that pain all to intimately...my parents and older sister were killed also on an Age. I will make this short and sweet...I think any of us would have done something irrantional like Alyena did, so would any of YOU want to condemn yourselves to life imprisonment, when you've already punished yourself in the worst way?" Mi'lari bows, and sits in his eat. The moderator says, Question from E'agle: I wish to speak for. [ [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "E'agle, you may speak" E'agle stands to address the council. "I beleive that Alyena has suffered enough for her crime. What she did she did in a fit of anger when she couldn't have realized what that would bring to her in the future. she was young and did not understand the consequences. She followed the advise of someone that she trusted and beleived in. This advise is what caused her so much pain. She should not be punished further. I beleive that she should be found not guilty." E'agle returns to his seat. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "are there any others speaking for?" [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "seeing none, this council is adjourned for 10 minutes." Tamen gets up from his chair. [PANEL] Tai'rahn says, "we will reassemble at 2:15, EST" Ti'ana gets up from her chair. Aitrus turns around and gets up "ugh" E'agle gets up from his chair. Sne'vir gets up from his seat. A'laro walks toward Alyena, looking at the ground. Erithan quietly makes some notes in the book before her. Ti'ana steps up on the platform stage in front of Council Hall Aitrus says, "and hopefully so will our jury" Aitrus gets up from his chair. Aitrus steps up on the platform stage in front of Council Hall E'agle stands in front of Nava Lir'rah. "Shorah Nava." Mi'lari walks over to Alyena,"Yes, and it seems the only one who /really/ wanted to see you in prison is abstaining....Yavo bless his soul for not saying 'Guilty'." Rhoveth quietly enters. Alyena glances at A'laro A'Gaeris coughs. A'Gaeris glances at A'laro, dissappointed. Lir'rah nods to E'agle as he steps onto the platform and whispers with him quietly. [PANEL] Aitrus says, "And ol A'Gaeris too" Mahnshooth says, "Do you need some cough drops, A'Gaeris?" Mi'lari puts a hand on A'laro's shoudler,"I would like to apologize for anything I've said against you, Nava A'laro." Aitrus pats A'laro on the back "lets just put ourself in her position. I would have done the same" Rhoveth says, "We can make some for you if you need." Rhoveth says, "After all, we're Chemists." A'laro looks up at Alyena when he reaches her. "I'm sorry. I really am..." He drops off speaking, not sure of what to say. A'Gaeris says, "What gives you the right to pat a Grandmaster casually on the back, Wanderer?" [PANEL] Aitrus says, "as I said, she only burned a bridge...." A'Gaeris realizes he's loosing his cool. Alyena finds some faint amusement in the exchange around her, and smiles [PANEL] Ti'ana says, "Nothing of your business, A'Gaeris" A'Gaeris rubs his neck at bites his lip.\ Aitrus looks over at A'Gaeris "perhaps because I want to be friendly? Do you know that word? Guess not" Sne'vir says, "Quit bickering! It's annoying." Mahnshooth grins at Aitrus's comment. Mi'lari glares at A'Gaeris,"What gives /you/ any right to act the way you have, guildsman?" Rhoveth says, "Yes, please." Erithan finishes what she was writing and stands up to go out and get a breath of fresh air E'agle smiles at Aitrus. Aitrus laughs "hey Alyena, was that YOUR book? Erithan gets up from her chair. E'agle steps down from the panel and onto the main floor. A'Gaeris says, "You were mistaken." E'agle tiptoes out. Ti'ana shrugs [PANEL] Aitrus says, "A'Gaeris, everybody is imposing on her familly problems. The book, her book legally, was faulty and would have been destroyed by maintainers anyway" Mayana looks carefully at Alyena, trying to judge how she is withstanding this trial.
