Ron Nigrini

lost in colorado

it was my very first time in colorado
and the truck was kickin' up a dusty road
we were half a mile slowly from the highway
comin' off the kansas city road
the summer sun was burnin' on the pasture
and a cowboy was checkin' out the shade
so we stopped to catch a breath and ask directions
but he sent us very quickly on our way

and now we're lost in colorado
lost in colorado.

and in the evening we came upon a soldier
who had served his father's wishes with a gun
but now his hair was spillin' down upon his shoulders
and his eyes held a word for everyone
just like the stars that were shining on the prairie
the soldiers eyes were cryin' to be seen
but some poor men could only look him over
then they sent him very sadly on his way

and now he's lost in colorado
lost in colorado.
