Beginning Tomorrow Yesterday Past People Me |
Friday, August 16, 1999... 3:00 p.m. listening to: Robbie Williams - The Ego has Landed The NT server's down and that's the thing I really need to do work on. It never fails that when I attempt this one particular task, either NT goes down, or needs to go down, or some other thing happens. Takes enough for me to get ramped up to do this (very boring but necessary) bit of admin without being stopped in my tracks. Argh. I went shopping today at lunch, so I could buy Geisha by Liza Denby. She's the only American woman to have become a Geisha... You see, I read Memoirs of a Geisha over the weekend, and now am in the midst of a bit of a Geisha kick. Of course, though they had a copy, it wasn't on the shelf. So, it's on transfer order. I'm finding ways to spend money without even having my purchase in reach. Impressive. I ended up buying the Robbie Williams CD, whichh I'm loving, a second alarm clock that screeches (they were out of the 110 decible one -- I think Mike would be thankful, should he know), a watch (first one in over a year - though I think I have one, actually...), a book for Mike cause it was 4 bucks, and a book for Gary. I bought a book for Gary because Matt was around this part of the office, and mentioned it was he and his girlfriend's six month-iversary. I looked at the calendar. I counted. Ten months. A phone call to him confirmed this, and we finally nailed down which day we went out on. So. November 14th, we'll be celebrating a year together in our new place. Odd, considering the past few years. The past few years have been odd in general, to put it mildly. I need to get a few things done before I go. More later. The CPU's almost home. Yay! |
