![]() We are a non-governmental organization (NGO) formed to protest the low-level military flight training started on unceded Innu land by the Canadian government. Since then, forestry, mining, hydro electric projects and other interests have put the Innu under a great deal of stress. A CRY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS by: Elizabeth Penashue Things are getting worse regarding developments. They are getting bigger and will destroy the land, the environment, the animals. They are also cutting logs and overcutting then selling the wood to Newfoundland. We were never given a chance to have a say in the past, but now we do have a say. But we still are not being listened to. They are telling us that they will grow new trees but even if they are, they will never be the same as the trees that grow naturally. Animals that eat there will taste different. We can already tell the difference in the taste of the rabbits, partridge and porcupine that we eat. We know everyone needs to work to survive but they should be more careful. Here in Labrador, we can’t drink the water in some places because they are damaging the land and water. We have future generations coming. We have riches on our land. We’re very rich in resources.
