Other KRs in the hood
Curt Martin:
Curt's very nice KR2 is hangered at the Waterloo/Wellington Regional Airport (near Kitchener Ontario).
He has about 100 hours on it now and when I visited he was in the process of completing the installation of new carbs (yes plural). Curt has used dual Mikuni (motorcycle) carbs in an interesting layout.
The engine is an 1835 cc and Curt says he cruises about 155 mph.
Curt is now (summer 2001) in the process of converting to tri-gear of his own design.
Chris Gardiner:
While waiting for the Gadget's paperwork I had the opportunity to test another new KR in the Southern Ontario area.
Chris' KR2S is powered by a Great Plains 2180 with the electronic secondary ignition and Zenith carb. Two electronic fuel pumps (main and aux) supply fuel to the carb although the engine will run in cruise without either.
After a minor adjustment to an over-achieving left brake the first flight went without incident.
Jim Fowler, Ray Larson and Phil Dennis:
Believe it or not on the same day just the other side of Lake Ontario yet another KR2 was being flown for the first time.
Jim Fowler, Ray Larson and Phil Dennis are partners in this tri-gear KR.
I am told a "faulty" master switch prevented the flight from going the day prior but that the initial test flight was otherwise smooth.
