Can't hardly wait - Sep 2000
While waiting for the paperwork to materialize its a good time to take a deap breath and clean up a few of those pesky details.
Intake system:
Since the carb heat air comes from the bottom of the cowl it is important to seal this area well (this also helps improve airflow through the engine). The front of the cold air intake is sealed to the air cleaner in the cowl with left over cowl seal.
Wing attach access covers:
I spent a lot of time trying to think of something here which would be supple enough to be easily shaped yet look like a factory job. Every day while picking up my 32oz. coffee, before going to the airport I passed a blind store. Well duh!
Its the cheapest vertical vinyl blind in the store held on with commercial grade double sided tape and a few screws.
My Revmaster 2100 D is equipped with a Revflow (Posa) carb. Adjusting this carb should have been a straightforward process requiring about an afternoon. I, of course, decided to make it into a bigger production than the Star Wars sequel. Here is my version of the Phantom Menace.
The VAL 760 COM radio I installed works very well but the alternator puts out a great deal of noise. There was no way I could listen to that racket for any length of time without going postal. Mike Ladigo in a KR newsletter some time ago metioned the same problem (altenator whine, not going postal) and recommended a filter made primarily for car stereo applications available from J.C. Whitney (www.jcwhitney.com) in the States (pn 03-7093N). The thing is huge, but it works "just like factory". Well worth the $30 US.
For the Marilyn fans...
