As this is being written, I still haven't released Issue #1. So why am I starting on this one? Because the first one got too big. I'll probably end up releasing the two together, and maybe more, depending on how long it takes to find some where to host them. So, a quick run down of the group as it currently stands. [dYnamike] - Our God. Theseus - Editor of this text bitch MMLJ - Lazy bastard. Paral0X - If he offers you a ride, run. Most of the stuff is written by me, 'cause everyone else has that wonderful "RSN" laziness approach to it. Anything not written by the 4 people listed above is from an outside source. These people do not necessarily agree with, support, our condone our beliefs in any way. Do not judge them by us or our actions. 2: Who hackers are ---------- Theseus --------------------- We are not a new group, nor shall we pass with the times like the youth that is our breeding ground. This is because we are not just techno-wizzes, we are not just teenage hooligan punks, we are not just a phase people go through, or a trend society will evolve out of. We are not about computers, and so we will not leave when it is their time to go. We are not about showing off, and will not disappear when popularity no longer matters. What we are is revolutionaries. We are apprentices. We are masters. We are anarchists. We do what we believe to be right and just based on our own system of ethics, not based on what society tells us is right. Hacking has nothing to do with computers. Hacking is about learning, and about using your power to change things for the better. Right now, computers are big, and they are perfect for our causes. And so, we learn about them. Not just how to use them, but how they work, inside and out. Then we change them, to make them better. The Internet is also an excellent vehicle for our system. So we use it to learn, and to educate, and to change. In fact, the Internet is the perfect society for our group. It has no controlling overlord, yet we keep each other in check. It lets us be judged based on how we act, instead of how we look. It lets us interact with people from around the world who share our beliefs, as well as both educate and learn from those who do not. You may not agree with my view of what hacking is, and who hackers are. That is alright, that is one of the essences of hacking - don't think something because you're told to. I'd just like to finish by paraphrasing The Mentor in what is one of the smartest things I think I've ever heard: Do -NOT- leave your handle on a computer system you break into. You can be tracked by this alone. 3: Teachers ---------- Theseus -------------- Don't like a teacher? Of course. Everyone's got at least one bad teacher, who really should've been fired long ago if the school board actually cared at all about the students' educations. Well, if it'll give you some sick, twisted feeling of vengance, you could mess with them a bit. Volume 1: The Telephone Probably you could just ask for a teacher's phone number, but then they know you have it, so when something odd occurs, they know who to blame. A better way is to trick them into calling you, then either using call display, or *69 get their phone number. If you want to call them but not talk to them, a good idea is to use a pay phone. In my area, you dial 0-area code-phone-number for a collect call (i.e. 0-303-555-1212). It will ask you for your name. Do not say anything, don't try to change your voice, etc... we all have idiosyncracies, and any teacher will recognize their own student. Instead, bang the phone on a wall (hard enough to make loud noises, the name has to be a certain volume, as well as under a certain length) If you do it from a subway station, wait for a train to arrive/leave and use the sound from it, nice and loud. There are programs, such as pager bombers, which would work fine for this, except that they require you to be using a computer... unless you're stupid, you'd have to hook up a laptop to someone else's line. Of course, if you distribute the phone number, do it very discreetly. Volume 2: The Home For ideas on fucking with houses, please see UpRoot Issue 1, Year 1, article 2 ("Vandalism" by me and MMLJ) The only trick is getting their address... you could call information, or in Canada use Canada 411 (a "Web" site... new-fangled inventions!). Volume 3: On The Job Good with image design? Get a pick of your teacher and a child, and make yourself some porn. Distribute it, widely. Include the teacher's name, address, phone number, and place of business. If you're good, you might just wind up with a new teacher. Of course, petty things like thumb tacks on their seat, taking all their paperwork, putting it inside their car, and setting it ablaze, and fucking with their computers all work nicely. Sidetrack. I've seen topics go from homelessness to ancient military strategy in one fell swoop. If you can destroy everyone's respect for the teacher, it can help you out a lot. 4: Idiots With Phones ---------- Theseus ------------------------ I received this phone call while writing the introduction at the top: Me: "hello?" Them: 'hello' Me: "yes?" Them: 'did you just call me?' Me: "no..." Them: 'cause your number is on my phone' Me: "uhm, I didn't call you" Them: 'a 724 number?' Me: "nope" Them: 'did someone else use your phone?' Me: "no" Them: 'hello?' Me: "no" Them: 'did someone else use your phone?' Me: "no" Them: 'well, who were you calling for?' Me: "I didn't call you" Them: 'did someone else use your phone then?' (Click) 5: I (Heart) Script Kiddies ---------- Theseus ------------------------------ Given what I think hacking is (Article #2) I see nothing wrong with so-called "script kiddies." How you get into a system is not important, what's important is _understanding_ why and how you got in, and what you do inside. Using an exploit written by someone else is comparable to using someone else's box plans in the phreaking world, or someone else's code in the open source world. If you break in, deface a website, and put up "\\'007 BeStHaCkEr 0wns j000000!" -then- you're doing something wrong. 6: Grandfather ---------- jrouam ------------------ There was grandfather, his little grandson often came in the evenings to sit at his knee and ask the many questions that children ask. One day the grandson came to his grandfather with a look of anger on his face. Grandfather said, "Come, sit, tell me what has happened today." The child sat and leaned his chin on his Grandfather's knee. Looking up into the wrinkled, nut brown face and the kind dark eyes; the child's anger turned to quiet tears. The boy said, "I went to the town today with my father, to trade the furs he has collected over the past several months. I was happy to go, because father said that since I had helped him with the trapping, I could get something for me. Something that I wanted. I was so excited to be in the trading post, I have not been there before. I looked at many things and finally found a metal knife! It was small, but good size for me, so father got it for me." Here the boy laid his head against his grandfather's knee and became silent. The Grandfather, softly placed his hand on the boys raven hair and said, "and then what happened?". Without lifting his head, the boy said, "I went outside to wait for father, and to admire my new knife in the sunlight. Some town boys came by and saw me, they got all around me and starting saying bad things. They called me dirty and stupid and said that I should not have such a fine knife. The largest of these boys, pushed me back and I fell over one of the other boys. I dropped my knife and one of them snatched it up and they all ran away, laughing." Here the boy's anger returned, "I hate them, I hate them all!" The Grandfather, with eyes that have seen too much, lifted his grandson's face so his eyes looked into the boys. Grandfather said, "Let me tell you a story. I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times. It is as if there are two wolves inside me, one is white and one is black. The White Wolf is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him and does not take offense when no offense was intended. But will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way. But, the Black Wolf, is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing. Sometimes it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them seek to dominate my spirit." The boy, looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes, and asked, "Which one wins, Grandfather?" The Grandfather, smiled and said, "The one I feed." 7: Contact Info ---------- E-mailing gzc@privacyx.com ought to work.
