NOTE TO MY READERS: Since I have gone back to my maiden name, MacMillan, and no longer use the last name Waldron, I have changed my e-mail and web site user name from "pwaldron" to "pandora1sama" as of August 16, 2000. My ISP gave me only 24 hours to move my web site over, and they wouldn't let me keep a link for a few days on the old site to re-direct surfers : ( So if you're confused, I hope this helps explain things. /(^_^)\
MY 2 GIRLS, MYRNA AND MADOKA, AND MY LOST ANGEL, RHIANNON
SITE DEDICATION: To The Memory of Rhiannon Roxane,
February 1, 1997 - March 4, 1997
RHIANNON
My poetry, and all the fan fiction on this site is dedicated to the memory of my baby daughter, Rhiannon Roxane, born February 1, 1997, and died one short month later, March 4, 1997 of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Many more children die of SIDS in a year than all who die of cancer, heart disease, pneumonia, child abuse, AIDS, cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy combined. A sobering thought, isn't it? We definitely need more research into this silent baby killer. Do you know someone who has lost their child? It's OK to talk about it; a mother comes to terms with it, but we never, never forget.MYRNA, THE WEB SITE WHIZ /(^_~)\
Some poetry on this site has been written for my bright, beautiful daughter, Myrna, who was an anime Otaku long before I was, and got me into Sailor Moon, et al--Fushigi Yuugi, or should I say, the character Nuriko, is one of her current faves. Myrna is not only another budding writer, but she has a talent for putting together web pages, and has hosted 4 web sites since the age of 11; I'm very proud of her. BTW, Myrna did most of the original work to create this web page and its banners, not me! Myrna knows HTML codes very well, but I'm slowly catching up [grin]. Yes, old dogs CAN learn new tricks /(^_~)\ Myrna also has served on programming panels at the Anime North convention for several years now. To see the two of us (Myrna in the middle, me on the right) in action at one of the Anime North 2001 programming panels "Cute Girls Who Kick Butt", please check out Linus Lam's Anime North 2001 review page, which is, without doubt, the most comprehensive review of this convention on the Internet. You can see Myrna in the centre of the picture leaning thoughtfully on her elbow, listening to a question from the audience on the topic, "Cute Girls Who Kick Butt", which was a discussion about popular tough girl heroines in anime T.V. series. I am on the right. The gentleman on the left with the glasses is a special guest who is an artist for the Supergirl comics. Incidentally, that's our backs [snicker] enjoying the "Iron Author" panel, which Tim Nolan was brave enough to participate in. Tim's Iron Author contest efforts "Sticks and Stones", along with 3 other participants, are on this Anime North link MYRNA'S OTHER ANIME SITES: Please visit Everything For You-The Fushigi Yuugi OAV, Nep~Ura's Paradox, a multi-purpose anime site, The Temple Of Nuriko is her other FY site, a shrine/club to her favourite character Nuriko, and her secret identity as one of the Magic Knight Rayearth Page Reviewers MY CHIBI MADOKA
My youngest daughter, Madoka, turned two years old on November 7, 2000. She is a curly golden-haired beauty with deep brown eyes and a 1000-watt smile, who loves cuddling people and teddy bears, in no particular order. Dokie can read numbers already [she grabs all the ads from me and shouts out gleefully "Nine nine nine!"], but for some reason, has an obsession with reading corporate logos everywhere, like "Interac" and "Rogers". Maybe she has a future in TV commercials?? She can say whole sentences, like "Come and watch Sailor Moon" (like I needed much persuasion?) and she adores her Hello Kitty refrigerator magnet. For those of you anime fans wondering, Madoka is named for the anime character Madoka in the series, Kimagure Orange Road
If you clicked on "Pandora's Box" above, I hope you liked my little joke--nobody ever believes that my name is really Pandora, because it's become a popular pseudonym amongst women who think it sounds exotic [lucky me ;p], so here's a fake driver's licence with me as Jane Q. Public--the date of birth is fake too.
FAKE PANDORAS ALL OVER THE NET ;p
I am NO relation to any of the fake Pandoras out there who use my name; I am no relation to the title character in Anne Rice's vampire book [BTW, the vampire's real name is Lydia, anyway, not Pandora ;p] or to the EXTREMELY well-endowed exotic dancer whose last name is supposedly P-e-a-k-s (Yes, as in "Twin" ;p). I'm not even listing her full name, because some silly man already e-mailed me twice, desperate to meet her. My own appearance owes nothing to silicone and my hair colour doesn't come out of a bottle. If you were looking for those other "fake" Pandoras, don't e-mail ME! Personally, the Anne whose fantasy-genre books I'd rather read is McCaffrey, not Rice.
THE WRITING BUG & THE JOY OF HAVING READERS /(^_^)\
Can't you tell from the way I ramble that I'm a writer? The writing bug started really early, in Grade 2, when the school principal was asked to read one of my stories. Yes, I write for a living, but it's not journalism or novels--it's public service related correspondence, reports, etc. for the Ontario government. My Net writing endeavours include poetry and anime fan fiction, specifically, Sailor Moon. All the free things that you can read, see and hear on the Net are like a huge, wonderful candy store, and my writing is my own contribution to the free eye candy.
What I like best about the Internet, though, is having fans e-mail me from different cities and countries all over the world. If you, like me, want to keep the Net a *free* place of information and entertainment, please respect the intellectual property of the people who post all this free stuff for you. That means, before you copy or quote from my fan fiction or poetry on another web site, please e-mail me at pandora1sama@idirect.com for permission first.
FAN FICTION
By clicking on the picture above of Tuxedo Kamen, or on this link to my fanfics.html page, you can read all of my fan fiction. That includes Chiba Mamoru's [a.k.a. Tuxedo Kamen] autobiography, entitled, The Rose Garden and all the other fanfic titles.
As of August 2000, I completed 4 parts of Chapter 10 of The Rose Garden and more will follow soon. FINALLY!!.
OTHER FANFIC ARCHIVE SITES
I don't have room on this page to list all the other fanfic archive web sites, besides this one, my own home page, which also carry my fanfics. But please do check out the biggest Sailor Moon fanfic archiveA Sailor Moon Romance, on the Authors - W - page [My daughter Myrna's works are there, too], as well as fanfiction.net, a HUGE new fan fiction site I recently started posting to. This site has every genre of fan fiction imaginable, unzipped in .html or .TXT format, and allows you to leave comments/reviews for the authors and for other readers, with just a click of your mouse. I think fanfiction.net is the wave of the future for fanfics.
Tux and I would also be honoured if you would visit my honourary imouto-chan, Jennifer Wand, at her Tuxedo Mask Shrine. Jen Wand has supported my efforts as a writer from the beginning, and she has served as my *home page* while I was mastering the mysteries of Web Design 101 ;p [I am proud that Jen calls me Pandora-oneechan! /(^_-)\]
You can also go to any of the above web sites if any of my fanfic links are not working, since they have all my fan fiction as well. Please also consider subscribing to the mailing list pretty-soldier, which has lots of info on Sailor Moon, as well as the occasional fanfics. I send my new ones there first.
On May 25 - 27, 2001, I was again, the head fanfic judge for the annual Anime North convention fanfic contest. My fellow judges included last year's Grand Prize Fanfic Contest winner,Ken Wolfe, our "Iron Author Contest" host, Steve Savage, the popular Sailor Moon lemon writer, and 2000's Fanfic Guest of Honour, Bonnie "Sailor Mac" Walling, and the author of the Haruka and Michiru fanfic series "College Life,"Amanda "Greenbeans" Anderson.)
Through the 3 days of the con Myrna, Tim Nolan (Tim flew in from his home town, Los Angeles, to attend AN for the second time) and I, were on more programming panels than you could shake a stick at!! I think the most amusing panel, in its own way, was the Canadian vs. United States Fandom panel. Several other panelists, including, I believe, invited celebrity guests, were supposed to be on that panel, but since it was at 10:00 AM on bleary-eyed Sunday morning, the others must have slept in, and Tim and I found each of us representing the entire anime fandom of our respective nations alone. AWESOME!!
MINI-RANT: Believe it or not, people, there ARE other things to do at an anime convention besides gawking at cosplayers, snapping pics of people in costume, and buying anime merchandise, though you'd never know that from 90% of the photo galleries on the Net covering anime conventions. The panels included:
Canadian vs. United States Fandom - Tim & me
"Cute Girls Who Kick Butt - Myrna & me
Final Fantasy - The Movie - Tim & me
Fushigi Yuugi - Eternal Themes - Myrna & me
Iron Author Fanfic Contest - Tim
Lemon Fan Fiction - Tim
Most Hated Character - Myrna & me
Sailor Moon Fan Fiction - Tim & me
Weirdest Crossovers - Myrna & me
If you like lively, often humorous discussions, if you love answering polls on your fave or most hated characters, or you'd love an hour spent with folks who really know their anime, do drop in on one of our panels Of course, there's lots of other things to keep you busy at the con, such as anime videos, participating in games and contests, seeing great artwork, seeing or dressing for the masquerade, dropping $$$ on anime collectables, and the list goes on. Anime North is held in my home town, Toronto, Canada. I have attended Anime North con every year since its inception, and 2001 marked my 4th year playing a major role in organizing the con programming.
Anime North (AN) was the first anime convention in North America to support good fan fiction by sponsoring a fanfic contest. So if you love fanfics, show your support, check out the Anime North Zine, which has all the fanfic award winners, and tell the rest of the anime world that fan fiction means a lot to anime fans! I understand that the entire collection of fanfics submitted to AN, including all the award winners for the past 3 years, will soon be posted at the AN web site. For more info, please e-mail Dave Greenlaw at dglaw@idirect.com.
If you've never been to an anime convention, why not give it a try this year? If you can't come up to Toronto for Anime North, the Anipike site lists where anime conventions are being held all over the United States and Canada, and elsewhere in the world (fan conventions don't seem to have caught on the same in other countries as yet).
