Eventide
So softly now the evening shades spread layered patterns over all The beauty of the passing day is fading now beyond recall So many tasks now left undone are put on hold as this day fades Time is right now to take some rest to get the worries off our chest To sleep and dream and when that's done arise and greet the morning sun All of God,s creatures take their rest and as the daylight fades They leave their active lives a while in bushes trees or glades They too need stop their busy day and settle down from work or play They will be back on each tomorrow much more refreshed and anxious too For they have need of food and drink so many things they have to do We must take time to think of those not quite as lucky as ourselves Whose days are numbed by grief and care who have no happy times to share What happens next they do not know they really have no place to go For them no soft bed to be found they do their resting on the ground Blessed are we to know we can give comfort to our fellow man
