Heartbreak I had a sweet and lovely dream while fast asleep last night Which stayed with me in memory until the morning light Such ecstacy will comfort me until my life is done My eyelids closed I guess I dozed to end my day of fun
Slowly I fluffed up my pillow to rest my weary head Smoothed the bumps and creases atop my narrow bed Just then it slowly came to me how very lonely one could be I knew my thinking I must change my attitude must be rearranged
With this in mind I laid me down a cunning smile upon my face No longer would I wear a frown I'd be welcome anyplace Almost at once I fell asleep to dream about your radiant face I had met you quite oft before made cherished trips outside your door So eager I to share your space
When I awoke my heart did pound to hear a well remembered sound The merry tinkling of your voice so quickly made my heart rejoice I reached out shyly for your hand a pleasure long and truly planned With sad regret at what I'd done we said goodbye and you were gone
