Mother
She always wears her sweetest smile
each time I chance to call
A gentle tap upon her door
she meets me in the hall
She gently greets me with a hug
of comfort and delight
And just as it has always been
she sets my world aright
Mothers are so kind and gentle
full of patience and of love
So missing if we be without them
if they be called to heaven above
So this is why with truth and grace
I so revere her kindly face
And at the end of each long day
I ask God's blessings as I pray
I ask for her a peaceful night
and sweet content till morning light
I often think of days gone by
sweet memories of how we were
Our happy family would try
to treat each one with gentle care
When things went wrong
if someone cried
The others soon were by their side
Of sweeter help than any other
our greatest gift our loving mother
