TIME IN PROGRESS

A special treasure we all share is the
wonderful pleasure of each new year
Twelve new months spread out before us
with new surprises to restore us
What can we do we have not done
More time for work more time for fun
We have new time to make our choices
with open hearts and cheery voices

In January we all know the outside world
is white with snow
As far as one can see and wide when
older folks might stay inside
While hardy souls like girls and boys
might find the scene one of lifes joys
One must admit with tongue in cheek
such beauty warrants just a peek

Come February much of the same
the world a picture sans a frame
A time of red and runny noses
no time to spend in outside poses
A time to favour a nice warm home
and limit every urge to roam
In mid month time to turtle dove
with favours to the one you love

Mid March as it has always been
is for the wearing of the green
An Irish time to make things rock
ignoring things that tick and tock
Begorra it is quite a sight but my
boy we must do things right
Enjoy ourselves without a care
as we do each and every year

April comes in with a rush
with lots of rain and lots of slush
The winter snows are doomed to melt and
water flows as if intent to hasten on its way
We'll see the landscape turning green
with lovely flowers soon to be seen
The happy birds will be along
to sing for us a merry song
The whole world will be as they say
once more quite young as always gay

We welcome now the month of May
with mayday leading on the way
With folks now wearing lighter clothes
while checking out the garden hose
Raking and picking up things in the yard
a chore which could seem very hard
The fine results will be quite good
then to relax of course you should

June gives us all a sense of pride
for every groom and lovely bride
We wish for them a happy life
for each new husband each new wife
While honouring each Mom and Dad
each one feeling one half sad
Yet feeling proud on this grand day
to send their children on their way

With six months gone and six to go
please understand me if I say
'Tis now the warm month of July
when most folks take a holiday
Still moving on and with much pride
life does seem wonderful outside
So do not sit upon the shelf
get right outdoors enjoy yourself
Golden fields greet us in August
grain crops shimmering proud and tall
Waiting there to greet the reaper
proud in standing proud to fall
Such happy memories to make
in every bread roll and or cake
The field will rest now 'til more grain
will start the process once again

Back to school now its September
children dressed up to impress
Leave behind their teary parents
emotional from weeks of stress
For some a struggle toward fame
for others just more of the same
Enough to hope as each day ends
they each have found some caring friends

A pleasant month we find October
a time we choose for giving thanks
For all the precious gifts we share
to our maker for his love and care
Each new day brings us added joys
new challenges to make us strong
So let us with a grateful voice
sing to our Lord a happy song

November now and this is fall
a slowing down for one and all
Leaves have parted from the trees
a coolness permeates the breeze
Carefree warmer days have come
how swiftly they have passed
We now prepare for winter time
wary of its icy blast

We now have reached quite happily
the busy season of December
So many things still left to do
So many moments to remember
We think of family and friends
of Christmas time and of year ends
Of happy times we love to share
while waiting for a brand new year
