Time Out

Today I thought it would be cool
to pay a visit to the school
To see the children in their places
with busy minds and happy faces
Each giving of their very best
to make sense of the latest test
While at her desk the teacher sat
with silent thoughts inside her hat
Twas such a scene of pure delight
a really busy, awesome sight

I felt a tear drip from my eye
I could not really tell you why
Except to say one child was mine
sitting at his desk so fine
I felt great pride within my chest
my boy was giving of his best
I took one more fast look around
so very pleased at what I'd found
Decided it was time to go
a very pleasant afternoon
a very happy show
