| OFF TO LOVER'S LEAP | ||
| We get ready for our first outing to
Lover's Leap and then 10km --mostly downhill, thank goodness--
back to Treasure Beach
(above). I think some had doubts about my bike but it was fine! At Lovers' Leap with Damian, our guide, in the orange tee-shirt, and Aimee and Neil, new friends from the U.K. (above right). |
Wide load ahead! You can see some
of the road damage from the flooding caused by Hurricane Ivan (above).
Joe (left) with some new friends including Damian in the white tee-shirt , Lester also seated and Doreen and Kanga's children, Jhavid and Sidi. |
| BLACK RIVER, YS FALLS | ||
| Captain Dennis picks us up at the cove on our doorstep (above). Aimee and Neil prepare to meet some new friends coming aboard at a brief stop in Frenchman's Bay (below). | Captain Dennis (above) steers us well. Stephanie waves good-bye from the beach. I look out to sea and try to stay out of the shot... Steve (below in the sunglasses) is from California.... | The sinister Tranquility Bay reform school (above). The obligatory shot in the Pelican Bar (below). It wasn't open yet but Captain Dennis knows Floyd the owner and found some Red Stripe and Ting... |

| A pit stop on the Black River (above). We saw crocodiles and mangroves. Everybody else was swimming but I decided to stay dry... (Well actually I was sweating like a pig.) Omar showed me around the property instead. | Friday is market day in Black River so after our boat trip we checked it out (above). I promised Gwendolyn I would visit her next time we were in town... Got some bananas, papaya and the best watermelon you ever tasted. | YS Falls (Above). Beautiful and much less crowded than Dunn's River Falls. Aimee, Neil and Stephanie were more adventurous than we were and actually went on the rope swing and then went tubing down part of the river.. |
| A kiss for luck at YS Falls (above). Joe doesn't seem to feel so lucky.... Maybe he regrets not taking a dip... | Joe quenches his thirst with fresh coconut water at a stop on Bamboo Avenue. | Waiting for curried goat at a stop on the way home from YS Falls. This place is open 24 hours and is very busy. |
| TRIP TO MILK RIVER | ||
| Our boat awaits. We're in search of manatees on the Milk River (above) in Alligator Hole. Deacon was our guide. | Joe helps out with the rowing. We did see manatees but not the twelve-foot crocodile reputed to live in the river. | Taking a rest and having a laugh on Milk River. We're about a mile from the sea here, apparently. |
| Little Ochi's restaurant in Alligator Pond (above). The tables are old boats on stilts on the beach. The food is excellent. | Milk River or Gut River--I forget which--meets the sea. This is not a postcard. It is an actual photograph of one of the prettiest spots I've ever seen. | Another sunset in Treasure Beach. |
| HANGING OUT IN TB | ||
| Joe at the cove 200 steps from where we were staying at Viking's House (above). Pedro Bluff is in the distance. Having lunch at Jack Sprat's on our wedding anniversary (below). | Off to the beach in Great Bay (above).
We must have spent 2 hours in the sea. A beautiful garden on the road to Treasure Beach (below). |
Glamour shot! Relaxing on the beach in the cove across from where we staying (above). You can tell I'm exhausted from my swim! The balcony outside our room (below). |

| TIME TO GO HOME | ||
| With Viking and Stephanie at Lover's Leap on our last evening in Jamaica and also our 25th Wedding Anniversary (below). | One last outing to a bird sanctuary on the way to Montego Bay. The hummingbirds loved Joe! | Waiting for my last bottle of Ting in a restaurant overlooking the airport and Montego Bay. |
