The
Mayo Clinic Diet: In
2-1/2 months you could lose up to 52 pounds NOT
recommended to stay on this strict diet longer than the 2-1/2 months. Then start
a maintenance low carb diet. Instructions:
At
any meals you may eat until you are full, until you cannot eat any more. Do not
eliminate anything from the diet, especially do not skip bacon at breakfast or
omit salads. It is the combination of foods that burn up the fat. Grapefruit is
what starts the burning up process. Cut down on coffee. It affects the insulin
balance that hinders the burning up process. Try to limit to 1 cup at mealtime.
Don’t eat between meals. If you eat the combination of foods suggested, you
will not get hungry. You
May Not Have: white onions, potatoes, celery, rice of any kind,
barley, pasta (all types),burritos and flour tortillas, tamales, green peas,
corn, baked beans, refried beans, black-eyed peas, lima beans, Bananas, dried
fruits, barley, sweets of any kind, products which contain Dextrose, Glucose,
Hexitol, Maltose, Sucrose, Honey, Fructose, Corn Syrup or Starch, or caffeine. You
May Have: Red
onions, bell pepper, radishes, cucumber, broccoli, green onions, spinach leaf,
lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes and other low calorie veggies.. Soft
Drinks: You
may drink any soft drinks as long as they are diet and caffeine free. Water Notes:
Note,
the diet completely eliminates sugars and starches, which are lipids and form
fat. Breakfast:
1/2 Grapefruit or juice (1/2) cup (4 oz.)
at least 2 eggs (any style) and at least
2 slices of bacon coffee, tea, water maybe
substituted Drink Water Lunch:
1/2 grapefruit or juice Salad (any dressing) Dinner: 1/2 grapefruit or juice Meat (any style, any amount-fish maybe substituted Bedtime
Snack: Glass of tomato juice or skim milk |
