The Mayo Clinic Diet:

 

 

In 2-1/2 months you could lose up to 52 pounds NOT recommended to stay on this strict diet longer than the 2-1/2 months. Then start a maintenance low carb diet.

Instructions: At any meals you may eat until you are full, until you cannot eat any more. Do not eliminate anything from the diet, especially do not skip bacon at breakfast or omit salads. It is the combination of foods that burn up the fat. Grapefruit is what starts the burning up process. Cut down on coffee. It affects the insulin balance that hinders the burning up process. Try to limit to 1 cup at mealtime. Don’t eat between meals. If you eat the combination of foods suggested, you will not get hungry.

 

You May Not Have: white onions, potatoes, celery, rice of any kind, barley, pasta (all types),burritos and flour tortillas, tamales, green peas, corn, baked beans, refried beans, black-eyed peas, lima beans, Bananas, dried fruits, barley, sweets of any kind, products which contain Dextrose, Glucose, Hexitol, Maltose, Sucrose, Honey, Fructose, Corn Syrup or Starch, or caffeine.

 

You May Have: Red onions, bell pepper, radishes, cucumber, broccoli, green onions, spinach leaf, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes and other low calorie veggies..

 

Soft Drinks: You may drink any soft drinks as long as they are diet and caffeine free. Water

 

Notes: Note, the diet completely eliminates sugars and starches, which are lipids and form fat.
Fat does not form fat. It helps burn it. So, you can fry foods in butter and use butter generously on vegetables. Do not eat desserts, breads and white vegetables or sweet potatoes.
You may double or triple helpings of meat salad or vegetables.
Eat until you are stuffed, the more you eat the more of the proper combination of foods, the more you will lose. You can lose 10 pounds in 10 days. There will be no loss the first 4 days, but you will lose 5 pounds on the fifth day. Therefore, you will lose 1-1/2 pounds every 2 days until you are where you want to be.

 

Breakfast:

1/2 Grapefruit or juice (1/2) cup (4 oz.) at least 2 eggs (any style) and at least 2 slices of bacon coffee, tea, water maybe substituted Drink Water

 

Lunch:

1/2 grapefruit or juice

Salad (any dressing)
Meat, Fish, or Fowl any style (Except for breaded)
Drink Water

 

Dinner:

1/2 grapefruit or juice

Meat (any style, any amount-fish maybe substituted
Vegetables- any green, yellow, or red, cooked in butter or any seasoning and or Salad Coffee or tea- 1 cup, and or water maybe substituted

 

Bedtime Snack:

Glass of tomato juice or skim milk
