Portraits - Andrew Danson

In 1980 I bought a small house on a cliff on the sea in Dan's Hole the oldest fishing village in Newfoundland. The first Dawe's to come to North America from England (1597) came to Dan's Hole. In 1982 I began to photograph my neighbours, many of them Dawes. I photographed them during Easter1982 after a fierce winter storm which 'kept women indoors'.
