Quotations ...Quotes are nothing but inspiration for the uninspired. Richard Kemph With the advent of the Internet we have easy access to quotations from past and present generations. I take this opportunity to share of a few of my own with you. Please feel welcome to share yours with me. Only God knows how much a prayer weighs. The most important thing we could do in this life is to be faithful to God. It is truly remarkable to see that God was able to create each of us different from each other and yet similar to each other in infinite ways. God's love for us knows no boundaries. Jesus our brother, Mary our mother, Joseph our protector, I love you. Even the rich and famous die. The only thing worse than paying high prices for food is throwing it away! It is OK not to be attentive if you are willing to pay the price. It could be anything - your job, your family, your life - there is no limit. Families that go out together will always find reasons to be together. Yes, you may have more wine as long as you know that it will not make you any smarter or prettier. If your actions offend God, you'll be the first to know. I believe there is a merciful God in heaven and He loves me unconditionally. You are free to believe whatever you want. There is always a better way; the assiduous will find it. Jesus is the man! Believing in something does not make it right or wrong. Married people should never listen to anyone with negative information about their spouse; it breathes contempt and destroys marriages. You do have a choice. You could keep an electronic copy of that document or print some hard copies and kill a few trees. Undying love could easily degenerate into seething hatred if infidelity is suspected or detected. Most people want nothing more from me than I want from them - a little kindness. Of all the things I don't like, the one I truly detest is other people trying to spend my money. It is the set of the sails and not the gales that determines the direction we go. Sailors use the same wind to go east, west, north or south. I don't eat much; only breakfast, lunch and dinner. Never fight with your wife; it affects your sex life. Life is the greatest of all treasures - it cannot be bought or sold. Life is found in things so miniscule that it is mind-boggling. God's work is incomparable. He bestowed the gift of life to all animals and plants with a design that enables them to reproduce and pass on that precious gift. Mankind has not yet achieved anything even remotely close to that accomplishment. The more work I do today, the less I’ll have to do tomorrow. There is no better way than the right way. Life is easy today because I worked hard yesterday. No matter where you are today, you could always get better or worse. Getting better may require some time and effort and may generate some pain or stress. Strive to be remembered for your kindness. My most important responsibility in life is to take good care of the people and things that God entrust to me. The only way to live a good life is to follow the instructions in the book of life i.e. The Holy Bible. Every garden has at least one striving weed. As employees move up the chain of command they get longer lunch breaks. Is it because they could now afford to eat more? Lies beget lies. Humans have tried but they really cannot rush nature. Living a lie is not easy or glamorous. It is very stressful. No does not mean that I don't love you. In fact, I said no because I do love you. Joy and sorrow are rivals who hang out together vying for the opportunity to go home with you. Joy and sorrow will be found wherever you go, your decisions determine which one will go home with you. It is beneficial to tell the truth. You don’t have to remember who you told what. I’m on a long and exceptionally rewarding journey. The journey of life! It is easy to know when someone loves you. They shower you with gentleness, care and the highest respect. Marriages begin to fail when respect leaves the relationship. Those who don’t like this life or this world are free to choose another. Don’t be fooled into believing that something is easy to do just because someone else could do it quickly. You and me (I) are the two most important people in the world. Without you there is no me and without me there is no you. If a bird in a cage could sing, we could enjoy life wherever we are today. Ninety-nine cents will never be equal to a dollar. Without that last penny it will always be incomplete. Never underestimate your contribution. God works in any kind of weather. Vision helps us to develop a mental image of a desired future before making it a reality. Strive to do the right thing especially when those around you are doing the wrong thing. Always do what is right even when things appear to be going wrong. People who know the value of counting their blessings know that it is futile to count their money. Count your blessings instead of your money. This discussion should be deferred until tomorrow when we are both older and wiser. The physical healing process begins with a visit to the doctor while the emotional healing process begins with acceptance. Every man who says he has a good neighbor is himself a good neighbor. Being the best is far more rewarding than being the biggest! Learn to see the beauty around you instead of the beauty in other parts of the world. When counting sheep, left brain people see hundreds of sheep running forward while right brain people see sheep jumping one by one over a fence. People love to follow "natural" leaders. Unfortunately, many natural leaders have limited vision. There is something about dancing that makes people happy - I hope to encounter it one day. Some people are annoyed when you open your mouth, others when you don't. Everyone is guilty of frustrating others and wonder why others frustrate them. Focus on excellence! Focus on doing your best and let others set their own quality standards. The illumination from a miniature light source is brighter in a dark room. The impact of a small contribution is more profound when there is a great need. Most of us trade our time, skills and energies for remuneration; folks in uniform also trade their safety. Life on earth is your only opportunity to prepare for eternal life - use it wisely. Sleep allows us to say goodbye to today and renew our energies for tomorrow. Judging by the quotes authored by "Unknown" and "Anonymous," if these were individuals they’d be highly educated. We could learn a whole lot about people from their quotations. Parents are responsible for teaching their children right from wrong. How? By doing the right things and correcting the wrong ones. Some of us are infantile when it comes to spiritual growth. If a superior asks personal questions about a subordinates spouse, their motives should be questioned. People who love and respect their children protect them from incarceration. People who love and respect their children protect the rich from being the target of criminal activity. I graduated from the younger generation to the older one without any effort. I could still remember being part of the younger generation - now I'm part of the older one. The memory of being in the younger generation lingers on long after we take our place in the next one. The sun makes a big difference in a day just by showing up - you could too! Thanks to God it is not as bad as it looks. Life is serious business; people could lose their lives! It is not his fault that he is enjoying all the good breaks. What is life but an endless parade from the cradle to the grave? Sometimes we just don't know what, if anything, is better for us. We are all participants and spectators in the game of life. I am having this party today because I'm alive and you are here. Don't mistake my meek disposition or display of decency with weakness. The Lord didn't do it all in one day. What makes me think I can? An optimist is one who knows the difference between positive and negative. To his child preparing for a math test he says, "I'm expect some positive results." To his doctor he says, "I'm praying for some negative results with that blood test." A rich man is one who pays to exercise in a gym. A poor man is one who gets paid to exercise while doing a rich man's chores. You may have to expend some effort to put things back after you use them but that will eliminate oodles of effort the next time you need those things. If God will never give me more than I could carry, I don't want to be too strong. All men are made equal; some may be rich or poor, tall or short, thin or fat but the defining criterion are birth and death. All men, even you and I, will experience both during this lifetime. There are no guarantees in death, not even a decent burial. We could all remember the thousands who were swept away during the great Tsunami of December 2004. We need to be aware of the fragility of life and how finite it is as a commodity. Life is the greatest of all the gifts bestowed on us by our Heavenly Father. Without it, nothing else matters. Only those who are blessed with the gift of life could strive to improve their quality of life. You must work before you could relax and enjoy a pay cheque. Fitness (exercise) should be taken like food: in small amounts two or three times each and every day. When the good Lord reminds you to do something just say thank you and do it. If you do it as soon as the good Lord reminds you about it you will never forget to do anything. Amazingly, the writings of bygone eras survived even though those writers did not have the luxury of electronic technology.Pictures on the Internet don't have to be big to be effective. Marriages could survive without love but not without trust and respect. I don’t know everything and that’s OK because I’m not expected to know everything. Life, as we know it, begins with birth and a lucky few enjoy multiple cycles of christenings, birthdays, weddings and funerals before it culminates with death. The mystery of life and death cannot be explained with mortal words. Today’s language does not have the right words to reveal the mystery of life or death. Life and death are both beyond the realm of human understanding. People cannot disown their children just by saying so. Their children will be theirs forever. Watch a movie today; there is no TV in heaven. What do they put in a tin of salmon to make the thorny bones soft and edible? What is it doing to my bones? When I remember to do something, I thank my God for the reminder and I do it right away. A day when the top news story is about politics is day when there are no new tragedies. The answer to your every question is already written somewhere. You'll find it if you read enough books. The answer to your every concern is in the Holy Bible. Ironically, many small words speak volumes when used alone: No. Go. Yes, Stop. Attack. Retreat. There is a special kind of magic in every human being. When you genuinely love a human being you experience that magic. Every life is endowed with enchanting magic. Fortunately, only the people who love you could appreciate your magic. If you stay there long enough even a paradise island will loose its enthrallment. If you stay with someone long enough they are apt to loose their charm. I can't afford to misplace things and quite frankly, neither can you. Legendary football players say, "Football is my life. I eat, sleep and dream football!" Can you say that about your chosen profession? If no, you may need to reconsider your options. Casual relationships are built on trust and respect; marriages are built on love. Marriages are built on love; trust and respect are expected. Marriages end in divorce when trust and respect leave the relationship. Relations break because they are not made of steel; they are made of trust, respect, emotions and feelings. Your inability to find things around the house has nothing to do with you memory if someone moved it. At this rate of inflation we could afford less goods and services with the same amount of money. What we want our children to do, even if it is honorable, may not always be best for them. You could do whatever you want to do as long as it meets with my approval. Choosing the "right" self-help book will only help you if you do what it recommends. Most men are "rough on the edges" when dealing with "soft" skills. Self-help books will help anyone who is willing to do what it recommends. You might be smarter than me but that does not mean that I am stupid. We could both be better than each other at different things. I used to be embarrassed when I forget what my friends told me about their families. I'm no longer embarrassed because I now know that they forget what I tell them about mine. The invisible line that once separated men's work from women's work was battered by the sands of time. With the exception of child-bearing and menstruation a "woman's world" is no longer occupied by only women. My welfare is my business. My happiness is my responsibility. I'll be yours forever as long as you do as I say. A willing lover is man's greatest treasure. Sex is a highly therapeutic activity for men - it eliminates insomnia. Good people don't believe in manmade prophecies. All our brilliant ideas will be lost in the sands of time if we do not share them with others. Many brilliant ideas are lost because we do not write them down as soon as they come to mind. If you doubt that statement, try recalling the ideas you had yesterday. If children of any age will do whatever little they can, parents will not have to do it all. If children of any age will do whatever little they can, parents will have the time to do more for their children. Does bitching result in lasting happiness? No! Then why do it? Are you always wrong? No? Then why do you expect me to be always wrong? Are you always wrong? No? Then why do you expect that of me? Stop fighting when you win the battle or you may end up losing the war. I don't like to leave anything for the last minute. Life, the greatest of all treasures is bounded by joy at birth and sorrow a death. Marriage, like any other relationship begins with happiness and ends with sadness (death or divorce). Marriages are built on love and hope. A lack of trust or respect could result in divorce. Amicable relationships need love, trust and respect to survive. Too many decisions are based on hunches and insufficient information. Too few are made on hard facts. Judgments are primarily based on the information presented to the judge - not necessarily the facts. Leaving things for the last minute increases the risk and your stress level. The earlier you experience success the more time you have to enjoy the rewards. Everything in life is time limited. Euphoria will sometimes last a few seconds and excitement a few minutes. Be reminded that youth and life will only last a few years. We like to think that our children will be with us for a long time. In reality, they will only be with us for about twenty years before they go off to seek their fortune and conquer the world. Love your parents and your children will have loving grand parents. The sooner we realize that we already have our most valuable possession - life - the more we’ll enjoy of it. My children will have great grand parents if I love and cherish my own parents. Generous helpings of love and respect will keep your parents alive to meet your children. Give your parents lots of love and they will return it to your children. Medication may cure stomach ulcers but love and respect will prevent it. Love and respect will protect your loved ones from all stress related diseases. Children need grand parents too! Parents need love too! Those who give respect, get respect. Working for the Lord, the pay may be small but the benefits are out of this world. If we respect other people, most of them will respect us. Love and respect will make any good relationship better. Don’t wait until your loved ones are sick or old to shower them with love and care. We improve our children’s chance of having grand parents by respecting our parents. We could get this work done, if we all do what is required of us. We’ll both be happy if you do what is required of you and allow me to do what is required of me. One could be a good anything: person, parent, sibling, spouse, relative, friend, neighbor, co-worker or citizen. It is okay to be bad at anything as long as you are good at something. My memory is as good as ever. I don't remember forgetting anything. If I had food as tasty as this when I was a kid, I would be at least twice as smart today. Visitors from dominant cultures teaching locals to speak English result in varied pronunciation of words. Dominant cultures influence variation in the pronunciation of words in lesser-developed cultures when visitors teach new words to locals. Our choice of syllables determines the way we pronounce words e.g. do we say DUNedin Street or DUNEdin Street. When we learn to do things that others can't do, we must remember that they can do things that we can't do. Memories are created every moment of every day and stored in a place called yesterday. There are no memories of tomorrow only of yesterday. Errors can only be corrected today; we cannot go back to yesterday or forward to tomorrow. In some homes, dogs and cats get more love and attention than mom or dad. Don't expect him to treat you like a "somebody" if you continually treat him like a "nobody." If you want to be treated like a king, you must treat your wife like a queen. You are here now because of some good or bad food and other choices you made. Some things in life are unmistakably final; death is one of them. No one is ever too old to learn something new. It is never too late to do something good. If you could read this, it is definitely too early for you to give up. On some future date you and I will have to leave everyone and everything behind and go to be with the Lord. Great people know how to make other people feel great. Great parents lower their expectations to allow their children the freedom to have fun while experiencing growth. No two events are exactly alike. If you doubt this, have a party tonight and a second party tomorrow night. Then compare the two with these or similar questions: Did everyone from the first night show up on the second night? Were the music, weather, food, mood and emotions exactly the same? Never let the sun go down without you doing the things you want to do with or for your loved ones; nothing is more important! Take the time to do it right or you'll have to do it over. What do we learn from a curt e-mail reply? We should never send curt messages. God does not practice favoritism; He made every race in His own image and likeness. God is impartial; He gave eyes, ears, mouth, nose, hands and feet to people of every creed and race. Only happy people have time to complain. Sad people are too busy grieving over their loss. I bet that a meticulous search of my past would reveal a mistake or two and a few bad decisions. To recompense, I plan to spend the rest of my days doing good things especially those that would benefit others. Decent people don't talk about sex in public. Invest in property, most of them increase in value. Good and right are not always on the same end of the continuum. We should never greet the dawn without a plan or a goal. A day without a plan is a terrible thing. Perception is the little voice in your head. Human beings have the ability to have two conversations at the same time - one with themself and one with another person - like "What makes him think he is better than everyone else?" Eating right by filling your plate with bright colors like greens, reds and yellows does not include M&Ms and some enriched cereals. Do it right or not at all. Some folks need an excuse to behave like a fool; others don't. Beauty sleep! I don't really need it but I still like to get some. Good and right are sometimes at opposite ends of the continuum. A university education is comparable to a train leaving the station. You could get on early and enjoy the ride, get on late and stand or stay on the platform and let it leave without you. When you find something you like to eat, have lots of it before the experts or your doctor say it is not good for you. We can't run from life or death. Without You O Lord I am nothing. It may not be important to you but does not mean it is not important to me and or the rest of the world. Pain is the medium the body uses to let us know that something is wrong. If you need something done quickly, don’t ask a manager. Technology makes us benevolent. We pay monthly Internet fees to freely share our knowledge, thoughts and ideas with the world. You may be correct and you may be able to say, "I told you so!" but that is not what the boss wants to hear. Acknowledgement does not constitute approval. When I experience pain I go to the doctor hoping for a solution. If one is not readily available the least I expect is help to determine the cause. It is good to be strong but unquestionably better to be wise. We are all growing old gracefully - one moment at a time. My plans are futile unless they are aligned with God’s plans. It is kosher for women to like older men because most men like younger women. I am a work in progress - with God's help I am getting better and better every day! I'm not suggesting that you do; I'm only asking if you did. When you have grown children you are always only nine months away from being a grand parent. I once tried to do everything at the same time - I got nothing done. I like what I see in the mirror, especially after I wash and comb my hair. There is at least two ways to make every statement. Fortunately for us, God is omnipotent and infallible or our unrelenting complaining would confuse Him - it is too hot or too cold, it is too hard or too soft. I too need to read for a few hours today. There is a plethora of self-help material in the world today - any one will work for you if you follow the instructions for at least thirty days. Tardiness is deplorable but arriving safe is more important than arriving early. When I go to church I hear two singing voices: the cantor and myself. Don't leave everything for tomorrow. Strive to complete at least one thing today! We no longer shoot the messenger. We just ban the message (art, book, song, music, etc.) The thing I don’t like about death is the fact that it is so darn final. What do we know about death? It’s sad. It’s permanent and it’s for everyone. I've heard children say, "I hate you!" to their parents. I'm yet to hear a parent say that to a child. I've heard of children being ashamed of their parents. I don't know of any parent who is ashamed of their children. Every thought that we could ever think was already thought and possibly written somewhere. Everyday, we are one day further away from the cradle and one day closer to the grave. Look for the good in people, you'll find it. Pray for the best and expect the best; to do otherwise is a farce. What is the value of having a gorgeous wife if she is not interested in warming YOUR soul? Everything changes with every passing moment - enjoy this moment before it changes. Life is analogous to a large conveyor belt with people continually getting on (birth) and falling off (death). Falling off the sides of the belt is the same as dying young. I had water and I had wine. I prefer wine! This is a perfect day - make the most of it! Doing nothing all day is the hardest of all tasks; it will weaken the strongest of all God's people. Births and deaths are two of the most common occurrences in life yet they always yield overwhelming joy or sorrow. I don't know any way other than the right way. This always was and still is God's green earth. What made you think He relinquished it to you? Why is so difficult for people to embrace change even when I initiate it for their benefit? Most people are more sociable than they appear to be. People who only want to have a good time will never create meaningful change. The choice is yours! Every day is important; we can't even afford to waste one. Having a small TV does not mean you're watching less TV. If you are not near the one you love; love the one your near. Doing the right thing is not the same as doing the thing right. People always look nicer when you see them for the first time. It is not easy to laugh when you are in pain but it is acceptable! A grumpy old man is a healthy old man. Sick men are not grumpy. Age is important - if you have a short shelf life like milk or meat. Even cheese gets better with age. Are we really getting busier or are we just getting slower with age? You don't want to be like gunpowder. To work well it destroys itself. Don't let anyone steal your joy. It is your most valuable possession. I don't have to be a perfect man. I just have to aim to be a better one! Older people have low tolerance for change. Men are the least tolerant. What better gift can we give to each other than our hand in friendship? The one thing I don't like about death is the fact that it is so permanent! Sex is a time-limited activity that yields unlimited pleasure and satisfaction. Everyone will not be happy with the budget and the government will not change it just because the people are unhappy with it. Promise me that you will never change but don't expect me to remain as I am today. Yesterday is inaccessible to us; we cannot go back there and change anything. It is never too late to change a habit; good or bad. If you could read this, it is not too late for you to change your ways. To change, I must know myself. Enjoy life as it is today - it is going to change! I'm available today. My daytime schedule is wide open. That will change as soon as I retire. The value of an idea increases exponentially when it is shared with others. If the truth were told your teenagers would be like angels compared to you. If too much of anything is good for nothing just give me a little of everything. People are sometimes like the weather: warm and friendly or cold and bitter. Cheques have little or no value until they are deposited; then they have none. Nature is impartial in the way she operates; she rains on the rich and poor alike. An expert is someone who knows more about a subject than everybody else. How much more? As little as one percent more will do. Counting money does not make money. You have to earn it, invest it or inherit it. Knowing what is wrong does not remove the hurt or the pain but it promotes healing. The sun and the rain have an estranged relationship; they are seldom seen together. The sun and the moon have a childish relationship; they are always following each other. There will be peace on earth when our thoughts, words and actions are pleasing to God. When you sit in the driver's seat, other drivers assume that you know what you are doing. Spend and invest your time and money judiciously. Your retirement lifestyle depends on it. There are a number of things you must do for yourself: eat, drink, sleep, exercise and learn. If too much of anything is good for nothing then a little of everything must be good for something. We are conditioned to believe that we are growing older but I prefer to believe that we are growing wiser. Time management is life management; guard you time with your life! Senior Managers think about what should be done. Managers tell front line staff how it should be done. Front line staff does the work. When you drive a car, you place your trust in every other driver out there - even total strangers. You trust that they will stay in their lane while you drive. Experience and history tells us that very few battles are won by force. It is always better to state the facts clearly and invite your opponent to negotiate a "win-win" solution. Every good thing is not always useful and every useful thing is not always good! Every day is important because it represents the past, the present and the future. Yesterday holds dear the memories of the past, without it we would not be here. Today we'll share our gifts and create new memories. Tomorrow provides the inspiration we need to live. My grandfather, Joseph Ramjewan, was born in 1900; he passed away on Sep21, 1988. These are some of his words of wisdom:
