History

In 1877, four rooms were added to the public school to accomodate Caledonia's first high school students. This facility was such that it became a "Model School", where teachers received a diploma to teach for  a three year period.

A movement started to have a new building, and though there was some opposition, a site on the south side of the river was chosen, with a beautiful view of the Grand River. Caledonia High School opened in 1924.

Time went on, and history repeated itself. After much negotiating, McKinnon Park Secondary school was built in 1992 and the former C.H.S. was renovated to accommodate elementary students.

The book committee is looking for people, who have been a part of this history, to write and tell us about your memories and what you are doing now. If you know someone who was a student, whose memory you want to have recorded in the book, please give us the name, birth date and death date, and we will put it on our special page. These submissions can be e-mailed to reunion@idirect.ca.
