Betty Schelter (Adams)

Hello to everyone,

I must admit I did not get excited about the upcoming reunion until my brother Jim gave me the web site and I saw some names I recognized. I began to realize how much time has passed and how many memories there are. So to everyone who isn’t sure if they should attend I hope you do, especially the 57-62 grads. I left Caledonia in 1962 to train for a nurse in Kitchener, Ontario. At graduation time I met Butch and in 1967 we married and moved to Toronto. In 1972 we returned to Kitchener and began working together managing a 150 bed nursing home. Twenty-eight years later we are still managing the same long term care facility and are currently involved in the development of a new facility and a villlage for seniors. We have four children, two girls 25 and 29 and two boys 19 and 24. Our oldest daughter is married and has a year old boy. They live in Georgia. Our second daughter lives in Windsor and is the General Manager of East Side Marios. Our oldest son likes to travel and is presently planting trees in Northern Ontario. Our youngest is finishing high school and going to Sir Sanford Fleming College in September. Our leisure time involves spending time at a trailer in Grand Bend and visiting our children. I thank the educators from Caledonia High School for preparing me for the journey of life I have enjoyed.

Just prior to moving to Sweden I was working with independent First Nations documentary filmmakers on the left coast. The eight PSA’s on BC Land Claims and subsequent documentary have been screened throughout Canada and the U.S. at Film Festivals and TV stations.
