When using factors you simply multiply or divide cost of food or sales price.
Example: Cost of food is $ 2.95, X 2.5 = $ 7.38
This method is faster, simpler and eliminates many mistakes that can occur when using the old method. It also works to figure out the cost of a item based on sales price. If a item was costed at 40 % food cost, using the same example as above, then the formula looks like this: $ 7.38 : 2.5 = $ 2.95.
