I developed
my love of flowers while growing up
` As my mother expanded her rose garden so did my admiration for roses grow.
When
the opportunity presented itself, I started growing roses on my own in
1970.
Over the next decade I developed an appreciation for the nuances of individual
roses.
What grew best in my zone 5 conditions, and what bushes produced the best
and
ultimate exhibition blooms.
I started
my foray into exhibiting roses in 1979 and was quickly rewarded with a
Queen of Show award. I was able to repeat this several times, along with
numerous
trophy class wins over the years.
In
1988 I became an accredited CRS judge. I've enjoyed this aspect of roses
ever since
and still continue to carry out judging assignments.
In
1986, I turned my attention to hybridizing roses on my own.
My objectives were to produce sturdy full bloomed roses which
were disease resistant
and most importantly, commercially viable roses.
I think I have been successful in this field also.
Have
a look at the Lougheed Hybrid Roses that are displayed on
this site.
I hope you'll agree that I'm on the right track.
In any event I would appreciate your comments.
