FRONTS OF THE LIBERATION TAMIL TIGERS OF EELAM

I am writing to thank the Government of Canada for designating the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as a terrorist group in terms of the Canada’s obligations under the UN Accord on the Suppression of Financing of Terrorism, which follows similar action taken earlier by the governments of USA and UK.

I would now request the Government to take the next logical step by bringing the known front organizations of the LTTE such as the World Tamil Movement (WTM), Federation of Association of Canadian Tamils (FACT) Tamil Eelam Society of Canada (TESOC) and the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) operating in Canada under the provisions of the same legislation. This is necessary in order to prevent them from receiving funds or transferring same to the LTTE for committing further acts of terrorism in Sri Lanka and elsewhere.

I trust that the Government would act speedily in this respect, as Canadian funds should not flow to the coffers of the Tamil Tiger Terrorists for their acts of wanton destruction and massacre of innocent civilians in Sri Lanka.
