MEDIA RELEASE                                                                 June 7, 2008

Tamil Tiger Terror Machine Continues Carnage Targeting Civilians in Sri Lanka

In our last media release dated May 27, 2008, we listed 23 occasions where the Tamil Tiger Terrorists carried out separate attacks within the 30 day period from April 26 to May 26, 2008, killing a total of 67 civilians and injuring 199 others by means of time bombs, claymore mines, and gun fire aimed at non-combatant civilians going about their daily tasks in buses, trains or attending to ordinary household duties. The LTTE terror machine continued to target civilians clearly demonstrating their savagery, with the intent of provoking the people to retaliate against their Tamil neighbours to cause widespread unrest.  They have only instilled more determination in the minds of the public that these brutal terrorists should be eliminated at whatever cost in order that the essential ingredients of peace and democracy may be restored throughout the land for building a stable economy and a brighter future for all citizens.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) which is facing elimination as the boundaries of their heavily mined patch of jungle recedes each day, and their dreams of a Tamil empire of “Eelam” is also fast dissipating as the government troops advance into the usurped territory.  These desperate terrorists continue to train their weapons on unarmed civilians blowing up the remainder of the stockpile of deadly weapons procured through Diaspora funds given and extorted, plus a range of illicit operations, as they go down to defeat and ignominy.  The deadly scorecard of the LTTE’s terror attacks in just the past nine days are listed below:

As a rule, the LTTE never admits to any criminal act.  It took them 15 years to admit their role in the killing of Rajiv Gandhi.  The human rights watch dogs and foreign funded NGOs with questionable agendas also keep mum, as they see no evil, hear no evil, and also remain tongue tied when it comes to atrocities on the part of the LTTE.

                                                Yours very truly,

                                                            Mahinda Gunasekera
