MEDIA RELEASE

Our Peaceful Protest on May 13th was to PROTECT CANADA FROM TAMIL TIGERS

NO OTHER DEMONSTRATIONS ARE PLANNED BY US AT PRESENT TIME

We were joined by members of the Sri Lanka Youth of Canada to hold a peaceful mini-demonstration at the Riverdale Park in Toronto without obstructing any of our fellow citizens of this great city where our message was in the form of an appeal to ‘Protect Canada, and the need to Stop the Tamil Tigers’ who were blatantly infringing on others rights.  We followed this with a news conference on the following day and reinforced the message of terrorism taking root in this country, especially that of the banned Tamil Tiger terrorist movement which was openly instigating the diaspora members to flout Canada’s laws including the blocking of major freeways to push their agenda to the legislators of this country.

WE HAVE NO PLANS OF HOLDING ANY FURTHER DEMONSTRATIONS IN THE CITY AT THE PRESENT TIME.  We are deeply perturbed by the announcement made this morning by CP24 that Sri Lankans were organizing a PROTEST AT QUEEN’S PARK scheduled to commence at 1.00 p.m. this afternoon, when no such intimation has been given to this media by any of our Sri Lankan community organizations.  Furthermore, the announcement went on to state that this demonstration was being organized by Sri Lanka’s Consul General in Toronto.  THERE IS NO TRUTH TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AIRED BY CP24.  We are left to wonder if this is yet another attempt by the pro-Tamil Tiger diaspora to fool the public into believing that non-Tamil Sri Lankan Canadians are staging a protest to confront them in downtown Toronto and cause a disturbance in order to discredit the Sinhalese and other law abiding members of the Sri Lankan community?

It is with deep shock and sorrow that we report the attempt to burn down the all wooden, beautiful Buddhist Temple at 4698 Kingston Road, Scarborough, causing damage to the building, glass cabinets and a collection of Buddha Images and other venerated religious items in the early hours of this morning.  Similar attacks have been carried out in several European countries on Buddhist temples by violent groups associated with the pro-Tamil Tiger diaspora, which is reacting in this unruly manner as their heroes in the banned Tamil Tiger terrorists are finally being eliminated after a 30 year nightmare of suicide bombings, ethnic cleansing and mass killngs of innocent civilians of all of the constituent communities.

Yours very truly,

Mahinda Gunasekera
