Enslaved Tamil Civilians of the Wanni need to be Urgently

Liberated from their Tamil Tiger Terrorist Tormentors

There is much talk of human rights and unsubstantiated accusations against Sri Lanka by the very perpetrators of the rights violations within the ranks of the internationally designated terrorist group known as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and their supporters within the Tamil Diaspora and their affiliated NGO clique. The supporters of the LTTE in Canada and other western countries are feverishly organizing vigils, seminars, forums in a propaganda blitz to mislead the public who are unfamiliar with the issues and ground situation in Sri Lanka.

The Tamil Tigers who have engaged in ethnic cleansing, and known to forcibly recruit underage children (5800 children so abducted and conscripted according to UNICEF since February 2002) who are brainwashed to become suicide bombers are being held up as liberators and champions of Tamil rights. The LTTE maintains a special brigade of Suicide Bombers known as BLACK TIGERS and are credited with having carried out over 265 suicide bomb attacks mainly against civilian targets. The Tamil Tigers have been banned as a terrorist group by nearly 40 countries including the USA, UK, India, Canada, and the EU. Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) says that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is the most dangerous and deadly extremist organization in the world. These so called Tamil Liberators are accused of having killed the most number of Tamils including almost 40 Tamil leaders in their quest to claim the dubious title of the 'sole representative' of the Tamil community. They have killed several thousand Sinhalese and Muslims civilians in order to drive them out of the region sought by them, in their attempt to carve out a mono-ethnic, mono-political, separate state exclusively for Tamils in the north and east of Sri Lanka to be dominated by the LTTE. Internecine rivalry between militant Tamil groups and splintered units have resulted in innumerable human rights violations even spilling over from the contested regions to the capital city of Colombo, making it extremely difficult for the authorities to uphold the law.

Presently, the LTTE, their supporters in the diaspora and the pro-LTTE NGO circuit are making a hue and cry about the suffering of the civilians that have been displaced from the Mannar, Vavunia, Killinochchi and Mullaitivu districts due to the military operations undertaken by the Sri Lankan Security Forces to retaliate against the Tamil Tigers that launched their so called final war of separation as far back as December 2005, where they carried out unprovoked attacks against the armed forces in extreme violation of the existing ceasefire which they violated from the outset, and thereafter cut off water to 30,000 farming families in the Mavilaru area. The LTTE which was defeated and driven out of the eastern province in 2006, are today facing elimination from the rest of the usurped territory in the north as the government forces keep advancing re-taking territory and extending the writ of the lawful state throughout the island.

Whom are these non-government organizations, financiers and supporters of the LTTE trying to fool? They claim that the lives of the displaced Tamil civilians in the Wanni are endangered as the various international and local relief agencies were asked by the government authorities to move from the LTTE's administrative headquarters in Killinochchi 30 kilometers further south to Vavunia, where special facilities have been established to receive the displaced civilians and take care of their needs. The reason for the request to move was because the theatre of military action was fast approaching Killinochchi, thereby making it difficult for the authorities to guarantee the safety of their personnel and other assets. It has also been revealed that 40 vehicles including heavy equipment belonging to Norwegian People's Aid had been removed by the LTTE whilst other material intended for distribution to civilians by INGO have been found in the possession of the terrorists by the advancing security forces. This move has not in anyway affected the shipment of food, medicine and other essentials to the displaced civilians, as adequate supplies are being sent in convoys of trucks numbering from 50-100 vehicles once or twice each week, to be distributed by government agents under the supervision of representatives of the ICRC and World Food Program that accompany the convoys.

The fact is that the LTTE is preventing the displaced civilians from moving to safety in Vavunia via the special security corridor, as they want to use the IDPs as a human shield in the ongoing battles with the government forces in order to create a possible disaster. Furthermore, it would be seen from related news reports annexed hereto, that the LTTE has launched artillery and mortar strikes on the food convoys, and even attempted to ram two merchant vessels carrying food and essentials to the civilian population estimated around 400,000 in the Jaffna peninsula with explosives laden Sea Tiger Suicide Craft. The Tamil Tigers not only require the civilians to undergo forced military training and contribute their labour in digging defensive trenches and building earthen dams, they are also required to release one or two family members to join their fighting ranks to replace their depleting numbers. The LTTE which operated a so called defacto state in the Wanni during the past 20 years have only extorted and exploited the civilians at the point of a gun and done nothing for their welfare. The LTTE has robbed the food and essentials shipped by the government for the sustenance of the civilians, taken priority use of medical supplies, and vandalized the medical centres, schools and other public facilities in the area prior to eviction by the security forces. The only construction done by the LTTE are heavily fortified concrete bunkers, and well designed cemeteries with neatly constructed tombs to bury the brainwashed men and women called to sacrifice their life for an untainable cause that they have fought for the past 32 years costing nearly 70,000 lives and destruction of an immeasurable amount of valuable property. It was the Government of Sri Lanka which continued to supply food, medicine and other essentials to the resident population in the Wanni (including the Tamil Tiger Terrorists), maintained the schools, hospitals and other government services, paid salaries, pensions and all other allowances running into Billions of Rupees, whilst the Tigers collected arms and ammunition and forcibly conscripted people into their fighting ranks to attack the state authorities and people of Sri Lanka.

The Tamil Tigers who have already lost a majority of their cadres in the recent battles have since been evicted from over 70 percent of the territory that they had usurped, and have withdrawn from Mannar and Vavunia districts to the remaining pices of territory in the Killinochchi and Mullaitivu districts. The megalomaniacal terrorist leader, Velupillai Prabhakaran, who is wanted by INTERPOL, and the Government of India for the killing of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, and Sri Lanka, for numerous atrocities including the killing of former President Premadasa, who was dreaming of becoming the Emperor of the Mythical State Tamil Eelam and the 80 million Tamils spread across the globe including 61 million in Tamilnadu, South India, will soon be caught in his hole in the Mullaitivu jungles or make a fast exit by biting into the Cyanide Capsule around his neck, as otherwise he will be called on to answer for the countless crimes for which he is responsible. Only alternative, would be fpr him to lay down their arms and surrender himself and his devilish forces, and prevent further bloodshed, as the people of Sri Lanka cannot be fooled into ceasefires and meaningless talks that are played out by the LTTE to buy time to rebuild his evil forces and resume hostilities.

Navy saves food cargo sent for civilians in Jaffna from LTTE Suicide Boat Attack on Oct 22

Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda visited the Northern Naval Area yesterday (Oct 24) in order to commend the members of the elite Fast Attack Craft Squadron (FAC) and Harbour Defence Unit for vanquishing the enemy suicide attempts to destroy the two Merchant Vessels, "MV Nimalawa" and "MV Ruhunu" on Wednesday (Oct 22).

The Navy Commander inspected the cargo unloading process of MV Nimalawa and MV Ruhunu, which were carrying essential cargo to Jaffna, and ascertained the harbour operations in the North after the successful repulsion of the attempted LTTE suicide attacks on the two merchant vessels. He also appreciated the efforts of the personnel involved in expediting the unloading process of the cargo on the two merchant vessels.

During his visit, the Navy Commander also visited the Electrical and Engineering Works Complex and the Slipway which is under construction.

The LTTE, by launching an attack on merchant vessels carrying food and other essential items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North, has once again demonstrated that the well-being of Tamil people it claims to represent is furthest from their concern, the Government said yesterday.

A Government communique said: "This morning the LTTE mounted a premeditated attack using suicide craft on two merchant ships, "Ruhuna" and "Nimalawa" in the seas off the Northern coast. This is the second attack targeting a food convoy reaching the Wanni civilians in recent times.

On the 16th of this month the LTTE launched an attack targeting a convoy of fifty lorries carrying food and essential items, including medicine plying, under the UN banner. The items had been dispatched to be distributed among the IDPs in Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi districts. The terrorists fired artillery and heavy mortar attacks targeting the convoy.

The moment the LTTE opens its iron gate the displaced persons will move out in no time and get back to their respective homes, the president of TULF V.Anandasangaree has said in a letter addressed to Tamil Nadu, titled Appeal to the leaders of Political Parties and the People of Tamil Nadu.

It read: For more than quarter of a century the LTTE had taken Tamil people for a ride. The Tamils need liberation only from the LTTE. The government had already liberated large areas from the LTTE , the East in full and in the North well over 75 percent. Now only a small area is left.

It is here all the displaced persons from Mannar Mullaitivu, Killinochchi and Vavuniya are driven into. The LTTE had brought them here under compulsion for their own protection. They are now using them as a human shield.

UN Food Convoy re-sent to Un-Cleared Areas

The UN and government convoy with food and essential items which came under LTTE artillery and heavy mortar attack yesterday, 16 October, have left for the un-cleared areas again this afternoon, 17 October.

According to the sources, fifty lorries loaded with food and other essential items to displaced in the Mullaittivu and Kilinochchi districts crossed the Omanthe entry/exit point around 12.50 pm.

The convoy, which left the Omanthai Entry/ Exit point at around 12.30 pm yesterday (16), was plying under the UN banner and had just crossed the Puliyankulama junction, when LTTE fired artillery shells fell in close proximity.

The Country Director of the ZOA Refugee Care, a key member of the UN-led Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (CHA), Mr Bernard Jaspers Faijer has written a letter, dated on 19th September 2008 addressing to Defence Secretary, saying that one of its Program Managers, Mr Givoanni Porta, has joined the LTTE unexpectedly while the organization working with relocation process.

Further, he stated that the organization will not accept this kind of situation since they had received clear instruction from the government. (The defence.lk reported this news on 27th September quoting a leading daily paper.)

Meanwhile, Mr Petter Eide, the Secretary General of Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) writing a letter to His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksha clearly said that the LTTE terrorists have forcefully confiscated the Mine Action vehicles and equipments of NPA and using them for terror activities.

The ENSLAVED CIVILIAN POPULATION IN THE WANNI have no RIGHTS WHATSOEVER in the usurped territory held by the Tamil Tiger Terrorists. They could only regain their freedom and rights once the FASCIST LTTE FORCES are defeated and militarily neutralized just as those Tamil Civilians in the Eastern Province were given back their freedom and rights after the LTTE terrorists were driven away in 2006.
