Dear Friends,

We are fairly pleased with the legislative measures introduced by the Minister of Justice to conform Canada's laws with that of the UN Accord on the Suppression of Financing of Terrorism. Our focus should now be directed towards having the LTTE designated a foreign terrorist movement, and having them included in the list of proscribed groups. As this responsibility is being handled by the Solicitor General, we at SLUNA are having a Postcard printed addressed to the Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, which we will distribute to members of the expat Sri Lankan community to sign off and mail it to the Solicitor General. The printed Postcards are expected to be ready for mailing by the 20th of October, 2001.

The message to be carried on the Postcard is contained in the attached document. We would request those of you living outside Metro Toronto, or even those whom we may perhaps miss out in this city, to do up your own postcard and mail it to the Solicitor General at your earliest. A postcard is preferred to large scale mailing of letters, due to the current fear of bio-terrorism which has surfaced in some parts of the USA especially against high profile political leaders.

Please co-opt as many friends of yours as possible in this campaign.
