SLUNA NEWS LETTER

SRI LANKA UNITED NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CANADA

QUARTERLY NEWS LETTER-JANUARY 2008

EDITORIAL

LTTE(TamilTigers) Terrorism has put a huge burden on us. Even though we are far away from our motherland, as the members of Sri Lankan community we collectively suffer due to LTTE atrocities in a day today basis. A bomb blast in Colombo killing innocent civilians make our hearts beat faster wondering what could have happened to our relatives who may be in that area that particular day. Thus there is no way out for us until the day terrorism ends. But that end will never come on a platter. It is certain that LTTE never wants a peaceful end to the national question. It’s been over two decades now and this circle of violence shouldn’t be allowed to go any further. As Dr. Dayan Jayatilake said: “..LTTE must be eliminated as a military challenge to Sri Lanka's unity and territorial integrity. This in turn means that the Tigers must no longer be an armed force capable of rivaling Sri Lanka's armed forces. The LTTE must no longer exist as parameters of a single, united Sri Lanka...” It is our scared duty now to take action and show

the real truth about our motherland and unveil the lies of LTTE propaganda machine.

We the members of the Sri Lanka United national Associations of Canada assembled at the Advent Lutheran Church in Don Mills, Toronto, at our annual general meeting held on Saturday, October 27,2007,do hereby resolve to call on the government of Sri Lanka to pursue you its current policy of eliminating the destabilizing effect of the armed terrorist belongs to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE) that has lasted nearly three decades more intensively, and to liberating the captive civilian population living under the Nazi style dictatorship of the LTTE in the Vanni region. We also salute the security forces for their resounding victories over the terrorist forces in regaining territory with minimal harm to civilians whom the LTTE sought to use as human shields. We look forward to an early resolution of the national question through adequate devolution and reasonable extent of power sharing at the center within a unitary system where all communities including the minorities could play a constructive role in the day to day governance of the country, which is the common homeland all citizens of Sri Lanka”

WHAT DO WE KNOW?

The LTTE and its leaders are at the receiving end of its journey while its front organizations in Diaspora in a hurry to save its Supremo Prabakaharan. Their latest attempt seems to be using R2P (Right to Protect) slogan at the UN. In that sense LTTE is planning to use liberal minded politicians in western countries to push their governments to make the UN passed a resolution against Sri Lankan government.

UNITED STATES

“Adopt a Senator” system seems to be working fine with LTTE front in U.S.A and according to media reports it seems it is even possible to adopt a President Now! According to recent news report LTTE front men had influenced Senator Hillary Clinton and are raising funds for her presidential campaign. This could be the reason of her recent comment on LTTE to a London based “Guardian”. In her interview   Senator Hillary tried to portray LTTE as a “freedom fighter movement” not as a “terrorist outfit”. The Sri Lankan government alone could not easily handle this lie. It is learnt that our friends in USA are actively engaged to explain the truth on Sri Lanka to the American public especially to Presidential candidates.

UNITED KINGDOM

In United Kingdom LTTE’s favorite Labor MP Keith Vass is in “troubled waters” after he address the LTTE hero’s day rally, which glorify sucide bombing.

CANADA

In November the LTTE front in Toronto organized a memorial rally in Markham for Tamil Selvem. He was killed by SLAF air attack in Killinochchi. He was the 2nd in Command of the terrorist outfit. Probably this would be the last time LTTE could use a publicly funded facility in the city of Markham.
