HOLIDAY BASKETS

Some of our Centre’s families will face difficult financial circumstances in the upcoming holiday season. We are able to offer some small support through our holiday baskets. These are funded in part by anonymous donations from participants and friends of the Centre and in part by CHUM’s City Christmas Wish Foundation. If you would like to receive a basket, please speak privately to a staff member.

      Back by popular demand!

If you would like to contribute to a basket, please pick up one of our Bears with a Heart from the Centre, starting towards the end of November. Return the bear with a new, unwrapped gift to support this community effort.

What is the Good Food Box, and how can I get one?

“We choose Ontario-grown products for the box whenever possible because we want to know where and how our food is produced, to support local farmers and reduce the fossil fuels burned when we import food. Customers pay the cost of the food itself, while distribution overheads are subsidized. Also available are a fruit basket, organic boxes, and the "Reach for 5" basket, geared to seniors, that contains prepared, cut-up fruit and vegetables. All of the boxes are accompanied by a newsletter that offers nutrition information, as well as easy and economical food preparation tips.”

                         –from Food Share’s website.

Let any staff member know that you are interested in the box and they will put you on the order list. We request that payment for two boxes be made in advance.
