The New Stelex Sector BBS, Toronto Canada.

About the system
Thanks for visiting this "about" page.
Bulletin board systems come and go; Stelex has been on-line since 1984.
This type of setup (one or more PCs kept on-line 24 hours a day
for sharing files and messages) is a great opportunity to do secure,
peer-to-peer networking.

Historically there were a large number of annotated text files on this system, and
there was a focus on the business of collecting and storing electronic information
by small end users. There was also a lengthy discussion of graphics technologies,
word processing, and desktop publishing. Of course this goes back to the early 1980's
when programs like WordPerfect and Aldus Pagemaker, Ventura Publisher etc. ruled the
roost.

It's taken a long time but today (summer 2011 say) we lean towards the later versions
of PageMaker and Adobe CS, and vector drawing packages like Corel Draw. Video has gradually
grown from "Computereyes"
on the
Commodore 64 to 640x480, VGA quality and 1280x720, HD quality. All things considered,
it's fair to say that today we are doing "intermediate" quality graphics.

Unfortunately, on the Internet side of things most of the Stelex web of
documents is down today. Check the latest news page(s) for updates.
End of file.
