28/03/2008:  CONTEST CALLSIGN - VB3E -
Look for Ron, VA3RVK to air special call sign VB3E during the period of March 28th and May 27th. He will mainly use this call sign for the CQ World Wide SSB Contest (March 29-30th) and the CQ World Wide CW WPX Contest (May 24-25th). 01/04/2008:  400TH ANNIVERSARY OF QUEBEC CITY - VC2VQ -
Club Radio Amateur de Quebec members will be active as VC2VQ in order to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Quebec City. Activities will start from April 1st to April 30th on 14.150, 7.070, 3.780 MHz. QSL via VE2CQ, bureau preferred. [RAQ]

01/04/2008:  400TH ANNIVERSARY OF QUEBEC CITY - VG2, VX2 PREFIX -
All radio amateurs in the Province of Quebec will be able to use special prefixes during the entire month of April. Look for VA2 stations to use the prefix VG2 and VE2 stations will use VX2. The special prefixes are to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Quebec City. Information on this anniversary event can be found at www.quebec400.gc.ca/pc-ch-eng.cfm [RAC]

01/05/2008:  60TH ANNIVERSARY OF NANAIMO ARA - VE7NARA -
Members of the The Nanaimo Amateur Radio Association (VE7NA) will air the special call sign VE7NARA from May 1-30th to celebrate the clubs 60th Anniversary. The Nanaimo Amateur Radio Association is made up of members of the community stretching from Courtenay to Duncan on Vancouver Island (NA-036, CIsA BC-001, also count for WLOTA LH-0858). 24/05/2008:  CQ WPX CW CONTEST - VC2M -

George, VY2GM will air special event prefix CI2 from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (NA-028, CIsA PE-001) between June 1st and July 30th to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first publication of "Anne of Green Gables", written by LM Montgomery. 01/06/2008:  60TH ANNIVERSARY OF NANAIMO ARA - VE7NARA -
Maurice-Andre, VE3VIG will air special event call sign VC3C between June 1st and July 30th to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Founding of Quebec City and the Champlain Trail. 03/06/2008:  FIRST PORTUGUESE IMMIGRANTS - VC6CTCU -
John, VE6JDD, will air special event call VC6CTCU from June 3-8th to celebrate the anniversary of the arrival of the First Portuguese Immigrants to the City of Edmonton, Alberta. Activity will be on 14.195 to 14.205 MHz, as well as 7.155 (+/-). He will also try to cover CW on 14.020 MHz. QSL via VE6JDD (John S. Melo, 5236-157 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta  T5Y 2X6, Canada). 06/06/2008:  MCEWENS ISLAND DXPEDITION - CI2PEI -
DX-pedition to McEwens Island in the Province of Prince Edward Island from June 6-8th, celebrating the centenary of "Anne of Green Gables". From the group that activated Grand Manan Island as CG1FO in May 2005, and Janvrin Island as VE1FO/1 in May 2006, six Radio Amateurs from the Halifax Amateur Radio Club and their wives will be travelling to McEwens Island off the north shore of the Canadian island province of Prince Edward Island over the weekend of June 6 - 8, 2008. McEwens Island is part of IOTA NA-029, but is also CIsA PE-013. The New London Lighthouse ARLHS CAN-341 is across the New London Bay from our planned operating location and plans are to activate it as well. They will be using a special Industry Canada approved ANNE anniversary callsign - CI2PEI. A special QSL card will be produced to commemorate this, our 2008 spring DX-pedition ritual. QSLing - they will respond to all QSLs 100%, either by way of the bureau or direct as you prefer. If you wish them to QSL direct, they need at the very least to cover the cost of postage. That means international stations - i.e. any stations outside of North America - we will require $2 US or one IRC. For US stations, they can QSL direct for $1 US although with the Canadian dollar being close to par these days it may not quite cover our postage costs - correct Canadian postage ($0.96 Canadian stamp) on the return envelope would be preferred. 20/06/2008:  125TH ANNIV FIRST INT'L POLAR YEAR - VO1PY -
Brad, VA3OC will be QRV as VO1PY from June 20th to July 20th to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the first International Polar Year. Look for activity on all bands. QSL via VA3OC direct (Brad Ford, 30 Marine Dr., Box 87, Gilford, ON, L0L 1R0 Canada) or by the bureau. [RAC]

28/06/2008:  400TH ANNIV OF QUEBEC CITY - VE2ØØ8VQ -
Special event station VE2008VQ will be active from June 28th to July 27th on 80 to 6 meters to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain. Operators will be Gaston/VE2HO, Serge/VE2AWR, Rollande/VA2RIO, Steve/VE2TKH and others from Quebec City. QSL card via VE2AWR, direct or bureau. [VE2TKH]

28/06/2008:  ANNE OF GREEN GABLES EVENT - VF2ANNE -

29/06/2008:  425TH ANNIV OF NEWFOUNDLAND - VO1NFLD -
Jeff, VA3JFF/VE3CW will be QRV from Newfoundland (NA-027, CIsA NF-001, WLOTA LH-0345) and will air special event call sign VO1NFLD between June 29th and July 6th to commemorate the 425th Anniversary of Sir Humphrey Gilbert claiming Newfoundland in the name of Queen Elizabeth I. During the Canada Day Contest (July 1st) Jeff will use this special call from Grebe's Head Island (CIsA NF-new one!) from approx 1200z to 2359z. 29/06/2008:  400TH ANNIV OF QUEBEC CITY - XM2A -

25/07/2008:  75TH ANNIV OF HALIFAX ARC - VX1=VE1, VG1=VA1 -
Look for special prefixes to be aired between July 25th and August 24th to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Halifax Amateur Radio Club (HARC).
