Activity is to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Roskilde on

01/12/2008: BELGIUM - BELGIUM RAILWAY ARC - ON175BR -
In 1834 - Belgium was 4 years old - circulated for the first time out of the United Kingdom a train
tractor drawn by an engine with steam, run on iron rails rather close to those which we know today.
This event had placed a railway line between the towns of Malignant and Brussels in Belgium. With
this occasion, l' IBPT allotted the Belgium Railway Amateur Radio Club - BRARC
(users.skynet.be/fb356606/brarc/brarc.html), Belgian section of the FIRAC (webplaza.pt.lu/firac/),

2009 is the 400th anniversary of the settlement of Bermuda by Sir George Somers. Most local
organisations are having an event of some kind during the year. The Radio Society of Bermuda has
been issued with a special call sign that can be used between 1 January and 31 December, it is
VP9400/xx. The xx suffix is the operator's call sign, i.e. VP9400/LP. There are a few novice licence
holders who have a 3 digit suffix, i.e. VP9400/NMT. Special pictorial postcards will be used to QSL.

To celebrate his 80th anniversary, the Swiss National Ham Society (USKA) has granted all Swiss
amateurs the use of the Prefixes HE8 and HB8 during the entire year of 2009. HE8 instead of HB9 and
HB8 instead of HB3. These prefixes are valid only from the Swiss territory. No foreign activities

26/02/2009: DENMARK/SWEDEN - TREATY OF ROSKILDE - VARIOUS -
Look for special event stations to be active with the "1658" within their callsigns on
26 February. Activity is to celebrate the "Treaty of Roskilde" when the three most
southern provinces of Sweden [Skane (Scania), Blekinge and Halland] became under Swedish rule after
more than 800 years of Danish rule. Working these stations is good for the "Roskilde 1658
Award". To qualify for the award you must work two Swedish award callsigns with 1658 in the
call, or OZ1658ROS and one Swedish award callsign. During the rest of the year four Swedish award
callsigns or three Swedish award callsigns and OZ1658ROS are needed. The award is also available for
SWLs. All callsigns, maybe with the exception of SH1658DK, will be active sometime during the day on
February 26th. Most activity will take place after work hours, that is around 1600z or later, on 80m
and 40m. Some stations will be active on 20m and other DX bands around 0800-1500z, if conditions
permit. Also, SB1658OZ will be active on PSK31 near 14070 kHz on 26 February, if conditions permit.
This station is situated in the province of Blekinge, and is also valid for the very rare "Lan
K" for the national WASA/HASA awards issued by their IARU organization, SSA. Only a handful of
hams are active on the HF bands from the county of Blekinge. "Roskilde 1658 Award" was
presented in the February 2009 issue of CQ Amateur Radio. Check out their activities calendar on the
Roskilde award's Web site for complete information at:/www.sk7bq.com/roskilde The calendar
will list all callsigns that will be active with their approximate dates/times and frequencies. The
calendar is updated continuously when new activities are announced. An online log is available as
well. It is updated at least every month if there has been activity with the callsigns. It will also
tell you if you have qualified for the award.
01/03/2009: BELGIUM - CANADIAN LIBERATION MARCH - ON65CLM -
The special event station ON65CLM stands for the "Canadian Liberation March" and will be
aired by UBA club station ONZ from 1 March until 31 December. This march is to remember the
liberation of the Town Knokke by the Canadian armed forces in November 1944. The original march of
the liberators started in Hoofdplaat in the Netherlands, 33 km away from Knokke. Nowadays thousands
of grateful marchers participate every year at this 33 km long walk in remembrance of those brave

In 1609, Henry Hudson, exploring for the Dutch East India Company, discovered the island he named
'Manna-hata' and laid the foundation for the Dutch presence in America (www.henryhudson400.com).
Four centuries later, the island is still known as 'Manhattan', and many more reminders of Dutch
heritage live on in the area (think of Harlem [Haarlem], Brooklyn [Breukelen], Wall Street [the wal
built on the northern boundary of New Amsterdam, now New York City], and Staten Island [Staaten
Eylandt]. This year marks 400 years of uninterrupted friendship between The Netherlands and U.S.A.

GG100GN is a callsign to celebrate 100years of the Girlguides. The 77th Northampton Girlguides in
Thorplands, Northampton, in Central England (EU-005, WLOTA L1841) are a Guide group specialising in
Amateur Radio. The group is run by Sue Hall M5AFY and John Chisholm M5TTT. Special event stations
have Chris M0DOL, Kara M3MCR, Natalie M3NEC and Robert M3GTG assisting. Their equipment consists of

DQ11APOLLO is operated by the German club in Luedinghausen (N28) with the special DOK Apollo11.
Responsible for the station and also acting as QSL manager is Thomas, DF3JO. The first QSOs were
made on 16-24 July to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first landing on the moon on
20.Jul.1969. The call will be activated during several occasions in 2009 and 2010: Apollo 12

Members of Chorley & District Amateur Radio Society will be operating GB0LD from the village of
Hoghton in central Lancashire, England (EU-005, WLOTA L-1841). The station will be celebrating
Lancashire Day, the actual date of which is Friday 27 November. However, they are so proud of
Lancashire that the station will be active from Thursday 26 November to Sunday 29 November
inclusive. The station will be operating on the HF bands dependent on propagation, with activity

(Year Long Special Event - Yaesu Heritage Year 2010). Using their club callsign GS2MP (North of
Scotland Contest Group GM7V), operators Chris GM3WOJ/ZL1CT and Jim/GM0NAI will be operating their
vintage Yaesu transmitters/receivers and transceivers during the year 2010. Each calendar month they
will use a different Yaesu radio, and amateurs worldwide are invited to work GS2MP and earn points
towards the "Yaesu Heritage Year Award". Operation will mostly be on 40 and 20 metre, SSB
